Please correct me if I'm wrong, but in a Combi, is there really no way to either:
A) turn on/off a a layer from SW1 or 2
or
B) control the volume of a layer from the User pots
...without modifying the underlying program?
Thanks!
Going a little crazy...

I've been struggeling with that issue for some time, trying to find a good way. The way I do it, is to set SW1 or SW2 to control the volume on/off of a compressor. You route the sound you want to that compressor, and you can turn it on / off with the SW1/2 button. But SW1/2 might have other uses in other sounds, so you could run into a problem. You can also assign one of the knobs to do this.
Another way to do this, is to edit the patch. I use the filter tab, setting a CC to control volume on/off on some patches. Then I use a foot controller (FCB 1010) to toggle the CC on/off. This makes it possible to stay within the same performance, and still be able to toggle sounds on/off.
