EMX, Ableton Midi USB ?!
Hi @ all,
how can i record my patterns to my pc, with ablton and my usb midi interface ? I connect it, and i get a signal light at Ableton, but cant hear
anything. If i put some Live Instruments in, i hear my beat, with Sounds of Ableton. This is Suboptimal, I guess. What I am doing wrong. I would be very

Thankfull, for a step by step help.
Or do i need more hardeware to record. I mean, i can hear some things. but not my own stuff, damn i am confused.

in order to record audio from your Electribe to your PC, you must have an audio interface. MIDI only transmits note and control information, not sound, which is why you're not hearing anything from the Electribe; the sounds you are hearing are those of Ableton being applied to the MIDI information you are sending it (think of Ableton like a player piano in this instance, and the MIDI info is the special music sheet that tells the piano what to play). with an audio interface (USB being the obvious choice, though there are other methods, like firewire) you can record the actual audio to your PC for further editing/looping.
head to your favorite online music retailer (Musician's Friend, Zzounds, Sweetwater, etc.) and search for "usb audio interface", and choose the one that best matches your needs. the upside is that most interfaces also have a MIDI interface built-in, so you can get both audio and MIDI tasks done with one unit.
good luck!

those lights you see,is that ableton is receiving midi data,0 and 1,but you might not even know what i mean,so to make it easy to understand, you need to channels midi ans audio, in the midi you will record a mirror of your sequencer lets say, so you can edit the midi,if you want, but the midi alone do not produce sound, you need to play back that midi back, so the electribe generates sound, and then record the audio in an audio channel.
this procedure is if you want to time-sync the ableton and the electribe.
other way more simple is just record the audio out of your electribe,in to and audio input in you interface, then create and audio channel and assign that input to that channel, record that audio, and then warp it on ableton ,so time stretch to your project, is to many ways to work depend which approach works better for you,i hope it helps

sounds to me like you're only hearing the midi as it's playing one of Abletons instruments, but are you actually recording the notes? Did you arm the track? Click the clip? (Little dot turns red)Electr0kiddo wrote:btw

midi ableton
i am not using ableton with electribes lately,so i don't really know whet you mean, you need to record the midi data firts, and then play it back,so the electribe respond as a sound module, best thing you can do is get ableton book or tutorials about external midi devices.and you will get it.
