Hey everyone,
I'm new to this forum, I visit the synthzone regularly. I own a Tyros 2 and I'm looking to have the best of both worlds. I'm torn between the PA800 and the PA2Xpro.
A few guys over there have really got me excited about these 2 boards. I've had the chance to mess around with the PA800 with operating sys 1.51
I'd love some feedback on pros and cons on both those models as well as the korg pa series altogether vs. the yamaha tyros 2
I'd also love to hear some 3rd party styles for the korg, I know they are more limited than 3rd party for the Yamaha. Can anyone with a few minutes of spare time send me either some mp3 snippets of a few 3rd party styles or a link to some sites on the web selling them with samples
Also can anyone recommend tutorial video or critique the unofficial one that korg promotes on their pa site
I'm new here! I'm from the synthzone I'm considering a Korg

Hi Michael,
i am Nedim from Synthzone. You said you played PA800 on 1.51, wait till you
try 2.0...hehehehe...when it comes to arranger everything comes down to
taste, not even needs, they all fullfill our needs but taste is different.
I wont compare none of them to T2 personally, T2 is way behind PA2X/800 in
my opinion even with its 1GB sampling but thats me...as for the PA2X/800
they both share the same engine and they both sound identical. The PA2X has
few things in advantage as 256MB RAM, 76 BETTER keys, XLR IN, better bodybuild
but overall they are almost identical. Third party styles there is few people that do that,
i dont know that many, you can hear some on my website:
http://www.basaristudios.com/id43.html
They are designed specifucally on the PA2X/800 and are made for those synths,
they are not converted from PA1X and wont even work on PA1X.

Hi Michael,
Like Nedim says, OS1.51 doesn't do it justice. You need to hear OS2 and the DNC sounds. OS2 is a free upgrade so I don't know why the shop hasn't done it. It doesn't speak highly of their competence or support.
As well as the very professional generic styles available at Nedim's site, there is a song based commercial styles pack here produced by Sal (stalian) who is another forum member:
http://www.irishacts.com/ezypal/index.p ... k_volume_1
Then there are numerous free style packs available in the bonusware section of www,korgpa.com. You can also listen to the factory styles and the OS2 DNC sounds at the Korg site.
Also Rikki (rikkisbears) has produced several nice styles which she makes available free. You can do a search for her posts both here and at numerous other forums.
Best regards,
rob

Hi Michael,
There are 2 Pa2x and 2 PA800 demos on the Germal Korg site (http://www.korg.de). Click on KorgTV then Keyboards.
You probably won't understand a word he says but should be impressed with the PA sounds.
