TR MIDI ISSUE (IN and OUT plugged in simultaneously issue)

Post by HDA7 »

Im using Multitrackstudio Pro Plus 5.1.2.0 (DAW), XP service pack 3, a Korg TR 76 keyboard and a M-Audio UNO USB midi interface.

When I am plugged into the midi in and the midi out simultaneously the midi track records and plays back irratically (sustained notes,.. dropped notes etc). When midi in alone is plugged in,.. it works ok,...or when midi out is plugged in alone,..it works ok. My problem is that I dont want to have to keep plugging and unplugging to record and playback.

I have been in contact with the developer of Multitrackstudio and he confirmed all my settings in the software are right. What am I doing wrong?? I'm sure its just TR Midi settings but I have tried everything I can think of.

HELP!!!

Go into global settings and poke around for something called Local Control On; you'll find it on the MIDI page. What's probably happening is that when you press a key, you're triggering the TR's tone generator *as well as* sending MIDI data to your DAW. The DAW is sending the MIDI back to the TR, as it should, and the TR is trying to respond to both your keypresses and to the incoming MIDI data (which happens to be your keypresses delayed slightly, because of the time to send data to and from your DAW).
Keyboard Rig: Korg Kronos, Moog Sub 37, Waldorf Blofeld Module, Neo Instruments Ventilator II, Moog MiniFooger Delay, Strymon BigSky, Roland KC-150, Mackie 802-VLZ4 Mixer

Thanks for the response. I did try that already though. No luck. Any other suggestions??

I'm from Kitchener btw. Fellow Ontarian.

Could you try using the USB connection for the TR instead of MIDI?

My DAW isn't even recognizing the usb cable connection. That's problem number 2 (and yes I installed the driver) .

on a PC, you actually have to run a utility that the driver installs in your start menu called 'install Korg USB MIDI Driver'. i've put a shortcut to this on my desktop as it tends to be quite useful.

anyway the program will show a list of korg USB devices plugged in and you hit the button and it will set them up for you.
