Powered speakers for M50

Post by Run »

My M50 L/mono, R outs are connected to a main big enough PA system via a mixer and I'd like your advices on small but effective powered speakers that I'd connect to the L/mono, R or the headphones stereo output just to be able to practice without using the mixer or play the M50 everywhere I'd like to.
ps Would computer powered speakers like the ones from this link do the trick?

Thanks.

Hi there Run -
I've experienced a similar dilemma myself.

I have 3 different ways, so far!, of amplifying my keyboards - all
of which can be combined if necessary.
1. Roland KC350 keyboard amp - I find excellent for a 'monitor' when playng in my band (the guitars can be pretty loud at times!)
2. Yamaha Stagepas300 - which is great (& true stereo) for 'quieter' situations.
3. Behringer Xenyx1622fx mixer + Carlsbro Orion powered speakers.

At one point a while ago I found myself with only the Orion speakers available to practice at home - and although they perform
admirably when used through the 1622,
using 'direct input' from my keyboards they distorted terribly.

So advice would be helpful to me too.

That's what I use for practice and also when playing live at coffeehouse venues. Nice little PA. 8)

Thanks Synthoid,

What I didn't mention is that I'm *nearly there* when it comes to acquiring what I need to complete my own (modest) 'home studio' set-up.

I'm also thinking in terms of 'good quality' but reasonably-priced powered monitors, and any advice would be appreciated.

I like the powered Behringers, affordable and built very solid. I have the 2030A models which only cost 280.00/pair a year ago, they might have gone up in price since.
Life is short, play a KORG!

I picked up one of these about 5 months ago and love it. This little bugger is serving as my practice space amp, my church group monitor and my near field monitor when using it in conjunction with a Peavey powered speaker with a 15" and horn for larger spaces and running drum tracks. Korg in one hand and this neat little unit on the other. my back loves me again. Also serves as a direct box for use with PA.

Alesis M1Active 520

Post by kev410 »

I bought the Alesis M1Active 520 for $200 for the pair after I got my M-50 88 . I really like them. They are " near-field" ..good for mixing plus some nice features. Look good to!
Check them out.
