Hi Alain,
It would be a big improvement on the present situation if we can merge together .SET files containing User Styles that reference User Sounds, with the proviso that the User Sounds must use factory samples.
Then the final task - which could come later - would be to work out how to merge PCM files and rebuild the cross references from User Sounds.
Best regards,
Rob

Hi Rob. I'm just having a play around with Mick Barry's XRM Software to manage style Banks. I am able to add the required styles, over 1000 to the Database and then transfer the individual styles to the individual bank select. I've saved the Bank as Popular1. I then tried to create a .sty file and the program had an exception -run type error 5- and crashed. The files to save as .sty are pointed to direct fd, perhaps that needs changing to Folder and that would work. I think this software could be very close to the style merging software that we are seeking. I think on it's next update it will probably be OK. The point here of course is that it shows the possibilities for the software. Perhaps be a good idea for Korg to help Mick Barry and further develop his software.

Nedim - have the developer contact me, I'll try to get him the support/help he needs for the sample formats.
I can't make promises about a Style/User Set/sample merging utility, but the basic format of our samples should be no problem.

Imagine if there was such a Style/User Set/sample merging utility for Korg Pa keyboards. I can guarantee that many prior Korg users will sell their Yamahas,Ketrons,Rolands and re- turn back to Korg Pa. The sampling ability and sound quality of Korg Pa's are way ahead of other brands. Just the lacking of a special utility and memory is keeping customers a way from Korg Pa's. Why korg is not responding and keeping it hash? What is the problem? Korg can sell the utility and make money too. The choice of very little sample memory specially in Korg Pa800 is the main problem that users are backing away from Korg Pa's. If we had enough memory then who would care about the utility because we could load and combine maybe 4 sets. A utility would help speeding the process but memory whould be my first choice.

Thank you Rob for this idea of splitting the task into 2 phases.Rob Sherratt wrote:It would be a big improvement on the present situation if we can merge together .SET files containing User Styles that reference User Sounds, with the proviso that the User Sounds must use factory samples.

Edit: I've re-installed Mick Barry's program XRM and I have now been able to save Custom Banks of 32 styles. I've yet to test them as it's a little too late at night here but I'll see if the styles work OK in the pa tomorrow and report back...mrniceneasy wrote:Hi Rob. Further Edit: Have now tried the Set's that I combined using XRM and the styles all load OK. I am happy that I can now do this as I can have my own Custom Style Banks from my Database in XRM on the PC.... Great!

Hi Nedim.
Is there any conformation of KORG KSC/KMP/KSF support being implemented ?.

Hi James,
not yet, i let him first have a look at Awave and he was impressed by it, thats
where his interest started from for implementing KORG format into ESC.
And now thats what he wants to get into, it will be a great thing if he does it.

If KORG KSC/KMP/KSF support is added to ESC I will buy it. I was very impressed with ESC when James demonstrated it to me, and it was only the lack of Korg KSC/KMP/KSF support that put me off. There are also some essential functions needed:
a) The ability to truncate a batch of loaded samples by a specified percentage of their original length.
b) The ability again in batch mode, to linearly tail off the amplitude of the tail end of truncated samples starting at 100% and reducing to 0%, doing this over a specified percentage of the sample's length.
c) When processing Korg Triton/Trinity format multisamples, there should be a way of constraining the functionality or auto-converting between the layered stereo multisamples you can load into Triton/Trinity/M3 and the multiple single-layered *_L and *_R mono multisamples you have to load into the Pa2x or Pa800.
d) Will the M3 VSTi work OK with ESC?
Many thanks,
Rob
Excellent.....!!!! Thanks Jerry
I look forward to seeing the end result because Extreme Sample Converter is by far the most stable conversion software I've ever used. I can honestly say that it has not let me down even once and I use it a lot. Does exactly everthing it says it can without any issues.

Re: Lets support Wlodzimier-Extreme Sample Conventer Devello
Hi Alain. I've recently discovered Ric Freak/Mick Barry's XRM pc software which I find allows me to create full sets of 32 styles from it's Database that I can load with as many Sets as I wish from the pc and extract only the styles that I need in a new named Set. That is what I needed as I have a lot of song specific styles in mixed sets. I can now create my own Custom Favourites Banks on the pc with specific styles, sort of like 'Gig Disks' that I used to use with Yamaha. The real Bonus here is that these new Favourite's Sets can be linked to Custom pages in the Songbook.iaoranaemaeva wrote:Would you still be interested in such a Pa Librarian if it lacked only the User Multisample Merging feature (which could be added later if proved feasible)?mrniceneasy wrote:I would certainly be very interested in PA Manager Software for merging Sets which we have already stated in the Korg Survey. That would be a Major step forward in the survival of Korg PA products.
