Changing instruments in a SMF (standard midi file)

Post by jkd »

I have imported a SMF in the sequenser but want to change the drumset to a set that is not a SMF set on my PA2XPRO.
I can easily change the set in the file and make it play and also save
the file. But when i play the file from start again it takes the original GM drumset. There must be a way to lock the sequensers program change to
the desired drumset. (Or other not GM instruments) I´ve also tried to
change the PC in Cubase list editor. But the same thing happens.

Go to the edit menue and make sure that filter the information for that particular track. See how many program changes are happening in there that you're not even aware of. Delete the unwanted ones and keep the ones that you want. If it's only one program , just make sure that it's happening at the beginning of the track.

yeah, go to sequencer mode.....highlight the track that you have problems with...hit menu...press Event edit window...tap on Filter and filter out whatever you don't want to see...Go back to event edit again..now, if there's no information about program change, that means that you should be able to choose and change the sound to whatever you want, and that should be the program for that track from the beginning to the end. Or, you can insert program change information for that track, and use multiple programs on same track,to keep the track count lower if needed.

Hi,

I'm following this thread since the begining cuz this is what I wanted as well. My question is that whatever you check in the Filter tab, is all that excluded from the song or the rest is excluded? For instance, if I need to change the sound of a particular track and I check the Program box, will I be able to change and place a new sound instead of the existing?
