VIF4 - Video Interface

Post by ajpa800 »

Hi

I need your help, from those that own VIF4 - Video Interface. I would like to be able to view my TXT (Lyrics) from PA800 onto an external PC LCD Monitor. I am wondering is it possible to setup PA800 in a way so that only Lyrics are always displayed on the external monitor even when I am moving through different pages of the main screen. For example, I want the current lyric to stay on the external monitor while I am searching for a style (opening other windows). Is this possible? Hope you understand my question. Thank you

VIF4 - Video Interface

Hi

I have just tried what you wish to do and it works fine.

I displayed the lyrics on the TV screen and scrolled through the pages on the keyboard and changed settings without it affecting the display on the screen.

Best wishes

Keith, Thank you so much for answering my question. I am so happy now, I can't wait to go and order the video interface...If I may ask you one more question? The size of font, is it the same on the TV as on the PA800 screen (what I actually mean, is more text shown on TV than on PA800 screen)? Thank you once again.

Hi

what is displayed on the keyboard screen is shown on the external TV.

It is enlarged according to the size of the external tv screen

Best wishes

No more text

Post by Rockitman »

The answer is no, you see the same amount of text on the PA screen
as you do on the TV or LCD monitor. I would personnally like to see
an entire page of text displayed. Currently you get 49 characters wide by 25 lines. (UPDATE: 45 characters by 10 lines on an external monitor is correct! only about 30 chars. and 8 lines on the PA800) You end up paging a lot for long lyrics. I wish that the Korg VIF4 had a mode to display a full page of text on an external monitor.

Rockitman, how do you see 25 lines and 49 characters? On my PA screen all I see is 8 lines and about 22 characters, and that is when in the option I choose Characters = Small...am I doing something wrong???

VIF Display

I am using a PYLE PLH9SP color TFT LCD 9.2" car/van DVD monitor. It runs on 12 volts. It cost me about $120 US, and I had to buy a 120v A/C to 12volt DC power supply, and wire that up, to run it. I see 45 characters wide, by 10 lines of text on the screen. It is only a 9" diagonal monitor, but it is a wide screen. The nice thing about the car/van DVD screen is that it fits in the music holder and still leaves space for a list or a chart next to it. (I do not know where I got 25 lines from, that was wrong  ) I noticed that the PA800 screen wraps text at around 30 characters and only displays 8 lines of text. Next I hooked the VIF4 to a SAMSUNG LCD 19" TV/Monitor that has a composite video input. While the text was significantly larger, I still got 45 characters wide by 10 lines of text shown. I also noticed that the PAL or NTSC setting, and interlaced or non-interlaced video settings on the PA800 make a difference depending which monitor you are using. For example, when I used the PAL setting on the larger samsung, I only saw 8 lines of text, and the display was a little fuzzy. Switching to NTSC and non-interlaced displayed 10 lines and was clear. The PYLE monitor likes PAL and interlaced and displays 10 lines clearly with those settings. I hope this post helps you.

Post by keza »

Is there any way to built-in VIF in Korg Pa500?
