Chopping samples???
Why can't I seem to be able to chop samples up into individual hits for use in the drums section? I've never been able to. I have some old records that I'd love to chop up, but I just can't. Please help. I feel like I'm not getting the most out of my ESX.

you can using the slice function
page 27 of the manual (google korg esx manual and the pdf is online)
or you can do it the dj pound way i think he does it without using the slicer.. (do a search for him on here)
or you can use the media card and chop them on the computer and put them on the card then the machine (how i do it)

Tell me, what you doing to Chop your samples?
Spell it, step by step, and we will check this out!

Rgrds!

I love compact things !!!...

if you want to chop you have to:
1.go to sample mode (rubber button with "sample" caption)
2.sample from eg. vinyl/cd/etc (press shift+rec then press play to start sampling - then press stop button when you finish sampling)
3.hold shift and press pad with caption "time slice" (pad13)
4.select treshold/sensitivity
5.accept slicing by pressing flashing pad (this one with caption "slice")
6.write changes made to sample into memory (press write button twice)
now if you assign a sample into drum track you can select all sample or only one slice when you press button with arrow down (this one under the screen)
hope i described it clearly..

Got it to chop!!
I'm finally able to chop those samples! Yay! I'm not sure if it's because I wasn't saving the patterns once I chopped them, or because I was using a stereo 1/4 plug rather than a mono one. Now the next issue is understanding the the divisions thing. I'm not sure what I should be setting it at. The whole 32/16 thing. Thank you all for your help.
