Hooking up the Radias through the Karma
What is the best and safest way that the Radias can be run through the Karma as far as correct hookup?
wel, I think what you want to do involves the following:
connect the MIDI Out of the Karma to the MIDI In of the Radias.
Make sure Radias global channel (in global mode, page 3 or 4 I think) isn't set to the same as karma global - If you are using just the radias I could suggest maybe 16 or 9, or 2, or something like that...
now in combi mode if you want to send something to Radias you just have to set a timbre to EXT mode and set it to the radias channel.
If you want to use radias as a multitimbral sound device you can set the timbres (per program) to different channels for example the global might be 16, but then you could set the individual timbres to 2, 3, 4, 5... This is best for example in sequencer mode so you get control of each part. but remember that the arp and sequencers on radias will only respond to the global channel. so you can navigate to the program using the timbre on Karma assigned to global channel on radias... and set program changes from the Karma.
similarly, if you want to play radias on its own, you need to go into SEQ mode, and navigate to the timbre which is set to Radias global channel.
as far as audio goes, you will want to set up the outputs of your Radias and your Karma to your mixer individually.
If you're not using a mixer then the easiest way would be to get a small one (probably best to get a 'pro' style mixer e.g. what a band would use rather than what a DJ would use. There are some great 8 or 12 channel mixers out there that will give you much more control over your sound, for example you can expand later with more keyboards, you can add effect devices to the effect busses, and also most of them seem to have effects built in...
