I have that thing also going on (well I'm actually a Triton Classic user), but what the manual says to this is to put Tritons Master volume slider fully up. This gives you a better result with noise and audio. So there's less noise and more audio. Also when I move my volume slider this high pitched sound changes a bit.

I'm not sure this relates directly to your set up.
I was experiencing a similar humming when running my TEX through my laptop and firewire sound card. Very strangely the humming carried on even when I turned the TEX off and only stopped when I unplugged the cable from the socket.
I recently had my house electrics tested and found that not all the house socket plates were grounded, so I assumed that this was a grounding problem having read that lack of a solid grounding system can cause all manner of hums and phasing.
However I then found that when I unplugged the power lead from my laptop, (not out of the socket) that the noise stopped, so I'm now figuring that the cause is the electromagnetic field thrown out by the laptops external transformer when it's powering the laptop. I get no hum at all for as long as the laptop's battery lasts.

+1
Just +1 to FigureofFiend's and Koun's ~8kHz background drone noise per http://real-theband.ch/~renaud/divers/bruit_triton.mp3.
Various similar but different digital electronics noises during boot-up (like old modem noises), until it's constant after boot (with some other harmonics going on but basically like the mp3 above).
Master volume adjusts the background white noise, but not the drone. Not audible on headphone port, just main analogue outputs. Not able to try S/PDIF.
Not affected by USB stick, CF card or onboard RAM expansion. Not a hum loop issue. Using the touchscreen or changing parameters that change the screen does interrupt the drone momentarily.
It's quiet, but annoying. I can mostly get rid of it by maximizing the master volume. AFAIK, it's always done it. Never gigged with the keyboard or transported (apart from original mail order...), so probably nothing is "loose". Interesting to see how this thread progresses!

high-pitched ringing
This has been a fascinating thread.
Had the same prob, I think, with with my TC which is now in for repair of an unrelated probably issue.
The tech, an experienced and competent guy, has come across the problem before and is convinced it is caused by a gradually deteriorating contact in the touch screen backlight circuit.

The only solar-powered TC and, now, EXTREME on the forum? The planet?
Re: high-pitched ringing
That makes a lot of sense! My TEX is one of those that has a poorly-performing backlight that only comes on randomly sometime after power-on. I bet these things are related. The drone disappears when the backlight is off I think.lebeau99 wrote: The tech, an experienced and competent guy, has come across the problem before and is convinced it is caused by a gradually deteriorating contact in the touch screen backlight circuit.
At this point, I'm going to open 'er up and dig around when I get a moment. I'm handy with a soldering iron. (Though "experienced and competent", I'll leave others to judge after the digging.

Update: hmm, I managed to get pretty far into the machine, but there were still circuit boards in the way meaning I couldn't reach the LCD and its backlight circuit without dismantling more than I wanted. I poked around a bit but there were no obvious bad connections or (from the little I could see) bad solder joints. After I put it all back together, I think the backlight came on more consistently than before, but that didn't last more than a couple of power cycles, and the ringing never went away. So net, no progress, no fix.

Noise Problem
Hello everyone. I am new to this forum stuff so bear with me. I was also looking for a solution to a noise problem (high pitched humm, buzzing) through this forum and anywhere else. I have a Triton Classic and a Triton Extreme. And BOTH have the same problem. It's not on the headphone output, it's not a ground problem in my studio cause no other equipment I have has this problem, the cables are fine. I just for the life of me can't figure it out. It's not soo bad on it's own but when I track a project (record all MIDI sequences to audio into DAW) I record each sound on it's own track. So when you play back all those tracks with the same humm, it is multiplied. And if I EQ the humm out it effects the total mix. Has anyone found a solution at all?
Plus does anybody ever have a hanging note problem on a TEX? I get this often fo no reason.

I had a similar problem when I had my Extreme's output routed into my computer's sound card. Turned out there's a function in the mixer that's supposed to pretty much normalize the volume of anything that comes through, and by turning that feature OFF, it eliminated the noise, and everything worked as normal. I'm sure this doesn't address every occurrence of this problem, but maybe this is the problem for people who have their Triton Extreme's outputs into their computer sound cards.

Thanks for the reply Gargamel314.
That does make sense but unfortunatly I don't think that the case for my situation. I don't go directly into a soundcard. I go through my console (Soundcraft Ghost) or other outboard preamps and then the signal goes to my audio interface (MOTU HD192) for which I record into Logic 7. If I want a signal normalised I have to go to an edit screen to manually do so. And I tend not to normalise in my mixes. I know I read somewhere on this forum that someone found a thread from a Korg rep. that claimed if you disconnect a certain ground trace that it would solve the problem. Unfortunatly that thread was 10 years ago and I can't find it so far. Oh well. I guess I'll keep trying. I see you have a 01/W. Me too (01/Wpro)
Still love it. Will never get rid of it, it was my first synth.

I had a Triton Extreme for almost 2 years (sold it a year ago) and also had noise issues. I was running it through a small Mackie mixer and powered Event speakers. I could 'hear it' when selecting anything on the touch screen or changing patches. The longer the TE was on the louder it got. I heard nothing through the headphones, but I definately noticed much worse noise issues if I had the USB connected to the TE - then my printer would come through the speakers as well.
I bought a device from ebtech called Hum X which filters the AC line and isolates the ground when plugged into the TE. This solved the problem completely. I had a similar noise problem (but much worse) when I connected a Playstation 3 into my home stereo system. The Hum X fixed it.
