Which is the best TR or M50

Post by satheesh_3dx »

Hai,
I would like to buy a new professional keyboard. Now I have Yamaha PSR 2100. Recently I heard about M 50. Is this is a good stuff? Is it better for outdoor uses? What are the merits and demerits of M50 when compare with Korg TR.

Plz..... I need a reply at the earliest.....

The M50 wins hands down.
You can't really compare the two.
It's unfair!!

The argument in favor of the M50 is simple: it has the best price to sound quality ratio of any keyboard on the market today (and probably ever); probably the same could be said of the price to overall features ratio. Unless you desperately need the sampling option, there is no compelling reason to go for the TR!

how about the body of M 50. It is less weighted.
What is the differents in tone between TR and m 50. what is the Advantage if M 50.? Can we play TR songs in M 50?

Many threads man ;)
Check the specs on the korg site, see some past threads discussing Tr vs M50, and, more important, go to the shop near to you and try the keyboards.

Yep, kb is spot on - you need to try the keyboards yourself - you are buying a musical instrument. If you don't have easy access to a dealer you could check out the vids on You Tube as a start.

Downloading both manuals from the Korg site will also answer a lot of your questions.

+1 M50

well, you have four times bigger ROM (64MB in TR and 256MB in M50), you have a new synthesis engine (HI in TR and EDS in M50), you have more IFX (1 in TR and 5 in M50) with more effect types and presets, you have a real nice drum tracks ready to go, touchscreen, tr is discountined while m50 is a new product heavily supported by korg.

the only thing I see as a plus for tr are: sampling option not available for M50 and individual outputs not present in m50

I'm sorry mate, I'm in a bit of a frivolous mood tonight (UK time is 1am as I write this) -
but does this mean you do, or don't, or used to, have an OASYS???

Any which way I envy you!

Other than that, I entirely agree with you (and others) - the M50 defies belief when it comes to value-for-money.

On a seperate issue I noted that you quoted the serial number of your (elusive) OASYS - so it got me thinking.....
who out there has the earliest example of the M50?

Mine is No. 000556 so obviously there are 555 people before me who got hold of one!

I'm going to post a new thread out of curiosity just to see who was first in line!
