I can record tracks to my daw from the m3 expanded using the E-MU 0404 USB-2 but am new to “midi” and when I try to install the Korg EXB-FW audio/midi driver V1.0 I get a window that tells me “to complete the installation please disconnect and reconnect your “device(s)” and turn them on.”
This is a first with MIDI so I’m “extremely” new to how everything works with this interchange between computer and keyboard.
I will try to describe my setup:
I have the midi “out” from the Korg connected to the “input” on the E-MU and I am assuming that the M3 is the “device” they are requesting. I have the Global P1 setting to MIDI channel 01, local control on, MIDI clock Internal, Sequence Mode to MIDI out on both choices.
As requested by the window, I turn the M3 off, then disconnect and reconnect the M3 and click “next” to complete the driver installation.
A “search” window comes up for about 10 seconds and then it returns to the request “to complete the installation please disconnect and reconnect your “device(s)” and turn them on.”
I’ve tried everything in the area of “turn off, disconnect, and reconnect” so I am assuming I’m doing something wrong within the GLOBAL assignments for MIDI. The E-MU 0404 recognizes the USB and I’m having no problems with this connection to the DAW I’m working with, so I’m assuming it is my ignorance of MIDI interfacing that is the problem.
Hopefully someone here can help. At least I am successful at recording tracks using the Korg and I can send Combies and program files at will to the DAW, which was my major concern. But I would really like to get into the “MIDI” experience as well.
I’m not desperate since I still “can” lay tracks but I would really like to try to get as much out of this rig as possible, and clearly MIDI is something that would be worthwhile.
Thanks to anyone who may be able to offer some suggestions.

Hi NormKorg
If I understand you correctly you are using the midi connectors on the M3 to the E-mu interface so you should not need to load the Korg EXB-FW audio/midi driver.
If you have the Korg EXB-FW card (sold separately) in your M3 and want to use it as a midi/audio interface then you Will need to load the Korg drivers and connect the M3 to the computer using a firewire cable, not the midi connectors on the M3. I suspect that this is why you are getting that msg. as it is waiting to see the firewire cable connected before it continues. You can probably just cancel out of the install and all will be OK.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Rick
