Converting problems

Post by Nenos »

Hi guys!

I was wondering if there are any ways to convert a song ( .mp3 ) to a usable file in my Pa500 ( supports .Kar and .mid )..

1 - Mp3 to Midi
2 - Midi to Kar
3 - Mp3 to kar
4 - Kar to midi..

any tips? I would appreciate any types of help =)

Thanks in advance.

Mp3 to midi is not possible, but you could probably convert a midi to Kar with a software that supports that.

This i'm not sure(someone please correct me if i'm wrong) but you could try... .mid and .kar (i think) are same files, just the extension is different, so you could just change extension and it should play. But i think that pa500 can play both mid and kar files.
As for converting mp3 to midi, ahem... somebody says it can be done and that they have the software, my personal opinion and knowledge is that it's impossible. There are programs but... no... the results aren't what you would want. So for now no converting mp3 or any audio form into midi.

Hi Nikola
Yes there is a lot of difference between MIDI and Kar. Midi is completely sequenced using keyboard general effects while Kar is created with professional sounds via computer sequencing. So there is major sound difference.

Thanks

Hmm, i just did a little googling on".kar files", it says that you can just change extension from .mid to .kar or vice versa...

no, midi and kar files are very similar. The newer players read both extentions, but the older ones only read kar files. Most of the time if you just modify the extention manually things should work fine, but some times text gets messed up. The main diff. is how these files handle lyrics i think.

You're mistaking CDG with kar files. Kar files are just midi events, but CDG karaoke files are audio tracks.

I believe that there are 2 main types of Midi karaoke files. Midi with embedded lyrics as .midi and .kar midi files which have lyrics added later to a basic midi file to play on pc karaoke players. Just changing the extension mostly works OK however it may depend with some programs on whether the midi is Type '0' or Type '1' also. There are 'converters' out there. GNMIDI is a Great Tool for ALL Midi/kar files......
