I've tried working on something slower this month.
As usual it needs tidying up, but again I'm pleased that the original ideas seemed to record.

How cool is that ending!! I do like the lead guitar here, it has some pitchy moments but I really like the sound of it and the rest seems recorded well from what I can tell. I'm no guitar guru, so I won't try to suggest anything on that end. I can tell that you are practicing and improving each month. Soon you will have such confidence you'll be coaching the rest of us in guitar work. I used to record guitar years ago and found it very challenging to keep it in tune and recorded well.

Thanks Guys,

By the end of the song I had to let go a bit. I find the timing of the guitar hardest to get right, there were many retakes to even get to this stage. The pitch is also a challenge, especially with the lead. All good fun though.

I'm still enjoying the guitar, changing chords seem to be improving, I'm still not really 'getting' the lead, but practise will continue!

Another stride in your guitar efforts pays off! Overall a smooth piece with an ambitious transformation at the end!

I like the feel. I know you are working on your leads and it shows. I really do not have much to say about that anyway because it is pretty good.

As I have mentioned to some others here, I really like dynamics throughout a song. There is a lot of drone background going on (strums, synth chords) that could use a change up, drop out, something different. But the ending draws such a nice contrast that I really can't be picky.

BTW, do you do any "mastering" on your tracks (final EQing or compression on the two track/stereo mix)?

OSAM does make you concentrate, it's one thing strumming a few chords, but putting it down is something else. The feedback is invaluable too, I intend to have a good remix session when this years songs are completed.

I hope to become more adventurous with the lead, think I'll start going over some tabs I have and trying to develop that more. I've noticed most of my songs are crowded, so part of the re-mix process will be to create space. After listening to your own song so many times over that they become too familiar as mixed. I use the D1600 mastering effects, but don't often achieve a clean result compared to you guys, any advice would be welcome.

Hi Simon

You have really achieved a lovely smooth sound here, and I specially like the way the lead guitar "sings", with little slides and vibrato's. I can't play the guitar at all - other than chords such as Em

- so I am watching in admiration as you improve every month.

And then the change in tempo towards the end!! Wow - that was very cool indeed!
