PIANO VOICE MISSING AFTER UPGRADE

Post by foxymoron »

I got the EXB-256 sampler ram and proceeded to upgrade my M3M to version 2.0. The M3M says that it is now version 2.0 expanded as I expected after following the steps of the upgrade. However, the Stereo Grand 4-Way 2 EX3 is not anywhere to be found. Not at A000 or at A020 (the names of the two are the same and the name shows up but there is no sound.) I am baffled. What am I doing wrong?

Are you auto-loading all EXB from the USB stick?
As you may know, A000 is based on the EXB sample, so it won't sound if you don't load the sample set.
Sorry if it was a stupid answer, HTH

Just make sure your kep files that came with the download are on the usb device and plugged in the usb port when you power up and the piano will load automatically, i have noticed that the other 2 you have to load manually

Actually, with the RAM upgrade, if the USB stick with the files on it is plugged in, all three will load.
In fact, I downloaded some analog sounding stuff from Karmalab Forum, and since they're on the stick, they load also.
Takes a couple minutes though.

EXPCM03.KEP Stereo Grand Piano is set to autoload after the OS Expanded upgrade has been performed. And EXPCM01 and EXPCM02 Brass and Woodwinds are disabled - they do NOT load automatically.

See page 7 of the M3 Expanded Supplementary Guide.

After completing the Expanded OS upgrade, to load all the .KEP sample files you have to set a couple of parameters in the Media->EX-USB PCM page. If you have the EXB-M256 board then you have to ckeck each of the two square boxes to load the EXPCM01.KEP and EXPCM02.KEP files.

Having done that, the files will then autoload every time you start the keyboard.

Piano Voice Not Loading

Post by foxymoron »

I managed to load all the voices. Now, I'm trying to make it autoload, but it's still not doing that. But I can hear the Piano Voice now when I go into the media tab and load each Volume of sounds. It's just that they don't autoload when I turn the M3 back on. I have to do it all over again even though I have the EXB 256 sample memory card. I will try again when I get home. Thanks for the help.

Hi, that's because you are not selecting the little square boxes to the left of the EXPCM01, EXPCM02 etc like I said. Instead you are selecting the manual load/unload function to the right.

Thank you Rob. I've been loading them manually. Hopefully even after loading them (with the max ram) I'll have enough left over to do sampling with my sequences.

STILL WON'T AUTOLOAD!

Post by foxymoron »

This is maddening. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. I have to have the M3 scan the USB device before it will even recognize that there is something on it. I think that may be why it's not autoloading. I have to go through the entire process of scanning the USB stick, then loading each EXPCM. All three of them, the piano does NOT load automatically. Even though I have set each of them up to autoload exactly as you have suggested. When I power down and start up again, it's all the same. Nothing loaded. What gives? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Are the file stored on the root level of the USB stick? Meaning they are not within a folder? they MUST be "out in the open" for this to work. This is the #1 thing to be sure of.

But the fact that you say you always have to scan the stick to make it seen is not right. It is possible that your device is not 100% right. Have you formatted it on the M3 itself and then tried again?

One last topic is if the device came U3 enabled, which means that it has some other PC-only applications that can cause problems. You could confirm this by plugging it into a PC and see if it automatically opens up some small applications.

U3 Memory Sticks and Autoload

Post by foxymoron »

Hi, Jerry

I tried another smaller stick and deleted all the apps on it before I put the PCM data on it. It worked perfectly. What I wanted to ask, though, so that I can use the U3, is can I have the Version 2.0 folders on the stick with the PCM data in case I ever need to reinstall? Also, will deleting the apps from a U3 stick make it inoperable? I'm just curious why the smaller one worked and the U3 4 gig one does not. In any case, thanks for the help.

Sometimes it is just a matter of who made the stick...many times my Kingston pen drives won't work, sometimes a 1GB will work, other makes take less or more!
