Motion sequence being applied when not recording?
I just got a ESX-1 and for some reason motion sequence seems to be getting recorded even when neither motion sequence button or record button is engaged. When I start turning knobs, the movement just gets automatically recorded. Am I missing something or has anyone had this happen before?

Doesn't happen to mine. So, if I understand this right, you're just playing a pattern and moving some motion sequence knobs, and these get recorded into your pattern?bog wrote:I just got a ESX-1 and for some reason motion sequence seems to be getting recorded even when neither motion sequence button or record button is engaged. Yes, exactly. The MOTION SEQ button is unlit. SMOOTH and TRIG HOLD are also unlit. Record button is also unlit.Yatmandu wrote:Doesn't happen to mine. Seems to me maybe the firmware is acting up, as in it thinks things are on that are actually off (like motion sequence buttons, record button). If it does it again, try pressing the motion sequence ON, to see if it gets rid of motion seqs. I'm not an expert on these boxes, but it might be worthwhile reflashing the OS to the latest available version.
This site seems good for these types of Q's:
http://www.sequencer.de/korg/korg_electribe.html
KORG ESX1 OS: the OS is currently at 1.02
find out current version by holding down Shift + Pattern Key when Power on..
almost slightly debugged compared to earlier versions..
dont try this at home: hold cursor up and down and now you can update.. no idea about finding the current version
os 1.02 is now the most recent version
.you can check this by checking your normalize menu, if you can set it to +12dB boost and the display says "Nrm/Lvl" it is alredy updated.. at least to 1.01.. if it says "Normaliz" it is still at 1.00
updates: some bug fixes in 1.02
the changelog is included on the download link above..
My own ESX shows the following different versions:
01.01.00 Flash
01.02.00 N_Sys
01.02.00 Dsp
01.00.00 USER
01.00.00 PCM
I think N_Sys and Dsp are the important ones, and mine is at 1.02.

are you sure its not one of the effects being applied to your synth part? seems like that could be the issue....IE bpmdelay fx1 sending on all synth parts
if not.....then update your firmware again.....mabie a bad flash....also was the machine 2nd hand? if so....make sure theres no damage internally to the machine.....mabie a knob is messed up.....
hate to say it but 2nd hand can be sometimes a shitty deal.....you never know what happened previously.
