Upgraded Ms-2000 user needs help/ Converting custom patches

Post by Varand »

Hi guys, great group here, I made a lot of nice sounds on my Ms-2000 and I recently bought a Korg Radias and I like it a lot. I miss my old sounds on MS2K, I know there are some converted factory patches for the Radias, but can I convert my own sounds? is there a special program? I would appreciate any help or suggestion. Thank you

I was under the impression that you had to re-create your ms2000 patches manually, parameter by parameter.

I wrote a piece of software for the Mac and PC that helped with the conversion, by doing just that (manually copying across the parameters). The original post where I talked about got lost when we had to slim down our database due to problems on our server. The software is still available, but I would need to fish through my archives to find the posts that detail how you use it.

For the moment the software can be downloaded from these links :

Windows app : http://daz.korgforums.com/MS2KRadiasConvWin.zip
Mac OS X app : http://daz.korgforums.com/MS2KRadiasConv.zip

The gist is that you open your MS2000 sysex files in the software, configure your MIDI settings in the app to point to the Radias, and then use the Convert option in the software to send a converted version of the currently selected patch in the display to your Radias.

Daz.

Note .... the conversions are not perfect, you need to do some work yourself to account for differences in behaviour between the MS2K and Radias.
