PA800, adding Bonusware

Post by johnno »

Hi guys. I'm a muso from way back, mainly blues/swing/latin stuff. Love my PA800 but find the manual hard yakker.
I want to add that free Bonusware and do not wish to overwrite or lose any existing stuff....so I need a step by step idiots guide on how to achieve this. I can d'load into my computer and transfer that to a USB flashdrive OK but from there I'm lost. Not being very technical I find the terminology of the manual hard to follow. I see lots of empty spots in Users 1,2 & 3.....do I put them there? How?
There quite a few freebie styles there but no indication of what they are so maybe I don't need all of them.
Its a worry innit?

Hi Johnno,
I did a short method for loading my user styles over at the Creatasong Style Forum.

Maybe it will help for what you're trying to do.
My styles are always zipped so, not sure about the Bonus styles

Unzip folder

Copy file to USB Stick
Press Media Button
Press Load ( Locate your USB Stick)
You'll see a .set folder
Keep hilighting & pressing open till you get to the individual style.
Don't load the whole set or you'll lose any existing user styles.
Choose an empty user or favourites slot & press ok
Full instructions are in the manual re loading , saving etc
Page 222 Media Edit Mode of the Original vers 1 manual
Roughly page 24? of the newer manuals.
best wishes

OK Rikki that worked just fine, many thanks. Now just one other little question.
There are several styles which I don't like and wish to delete them.....how do I get into the style files to do that please?

Hi Johnno,
Press Media Button

Choose Erase Tab

Scroll thru till you find SSD-S (same place as you located your USB stick)

You'll see an "ALL" Folder DO NOT ERASE
press Open
Styles Open
Favourites or User Style Open
Locate the single style you want to erase & erase it.

Haven't been thru Coffs for a number of years now.
If I can be of any help, let me know.

Hi Paula,
glad to hear the info helped you also.
if you're using a lot of user styles & you want a way to organize them,
check out XRM software.
http://www.dunbharra.net/korg/XRM.php

I'm sorting mine into sets of styles, saving them to usb stick & loading them back in as required. .
It's making sorting a breeze.

So thankful Mick B continued on with this project.

( Thanks again Mick)

Following this thread with great interest, learning lots....thanks. My fav bonus style so far is called strangely "Piano 4 tett" which I suppose translates into "quartet". Just the job for improvising around tunes like "Satin Doll" or "Autumn Leaves"
If you know of any other styles similar to that please let me know
Thanks rikki....and yes Port Stephens is nice too

Hi Johnno
createasongstyle forum might be worth joining. (free)
http://www.createsongstyles.com/forum/i ... board=5.20
Members post links&/or styles there.
I've posted a few styles there including a couple of jazz piano type styles that I've put together. ( converted/edited etc)

Hi Johnno,
sorry, I forgot. The site had a major crash in May 2008.
Styles etc were lost. Some people posted them back in.
My lost styles were put back in round the 30th May, as My Prior PA800 Styles as requested.
best wishes

And thank you Rikki for being so helpful.

Can this software also be used for Korg PA500 styles & performances?
