Almost anniversary for the MOD-7! But what's next?...

Post by curvebender »

So, almost a year has passed since this post:

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... light=mod7

If I remember correctly, I danced for a few minutes out of sheer excitement!!

And what a great EXi the MOD-7 is, fantastic job from the guys at KORG.

But, I feel an itch now: is it time soon for any new goodies for the OASYS?..

I know, these posts verge on the meaningless, as it's always speculation, but I had to do something!!

So, what do you think?..

About one year since MOD7 released and no new update announced
If rumours of a new OASYS is true, it is possible that the OASYS Team is working on OASYSII and is not available for OASYSI.
I don't hope this but it is possible.

I think we are all waiting for the annual (wish it were semi-annual) Korg software upgrade, it should be due up soon.

Hi Franzlp-

Are you in the know? Do you have inside information; and do you have any basis upon which you can say there will be a software update soon, or are you guessing because it's been a while.

I'm not waiting for any updates. I'm very happy with the OASYS.

Well, what about the EXF effects?, shouldn't OASYS users be entitled to a EFX upgrade, it is painted on front of the OASYS! - so why are we to assume it there Won't be an update?

That said, in one of korgs mags that come twice a year, i remember seeing at the back of the issue, when describing the Korg Triton's EXB Expansion boards, that PCM 09 (trance attack, is the latest EXB - and with MORE to come (well, it didn't happen)

A year already ?. Wow that was fast.
Now that I think of it, KORG have been extremely quite. No new OASYS offerings, and not even a smell of a sample expansion pack for the M3.

They must be cooking up something really good.

Regards.

Yeah,.... but it hasn't been a year since your other post:

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... +woodwinds

:D

If November 20th rolls by and still no update, then I might think that something new isn't coming.

They actually did give us two 'big' updates in 2007 - Mod7 and EXs3. If an update does come for 2008 might be two nice 'big' things again - ? Who knows its too quiet.

Anyway speculative comments from us O User is insignificant, only comments from Korg have substance - re: O continued or discontinued etc

I dont care anymore about the speculation - i just wait for Jerry to come in and tell us - Official Korg Announcements only accepted

I suppose Dan can confirm this, but If I´m not mistaken, and I think I´m not, Dan said here not long ago that they were working "on the next Oasys update".

So we can guess theres a new update on the way, but it may take a while yet.

I for one welcome our new "do it right the first time" overlords. This time last year I was investing in CD media companies due to the number of updates coming out ;) It really distracted from actually learning how to use what I had (which was fairly new for me at the time)

With any luck they'll enable the ethernet port on the back, and add a karaoke function where you can stream music videos straight from YouTube and play along

Davidb,

You are correct, Dan did say something like that and it would be great if it happens. Sometimes, however, the plug can be pulled from almost any project.

I'll rejoice if one comes, but not cry if one doesn't. No sleep lost here either way.

Hmm - with all the stuff we/I already have I have to admit I'm not really missing an update. MOD7 was an extraordinary update - I'm still fascinated by its sound and possibilities and believe I could spend years with just this synth engine.

Somehow I feel like never having enough time for exploring my Oasys AND making music. I only scratch the surface of it.

Nevertheless I wouldn't mind another milestone like MOD7!
