old guy - new member. struggling on....

Post by cldg »

Late 50's and just started playing with friends doing covers etc for fun ..and it is. Bought a second hand Trinity DR5. but non totally tech and just want some decent piano, organ, brass sounds to play live. Have i the wrong machine? can I get better sounds to load into it (a youngster can help me!) don't want sequencing etc etc just easy to play, good live sounds. is there such a thing as a manual teach yourself that is understandable?
Played a hammond M series in the 70's...that was easy (but a bit heavier)

The Download section here might have something for the Trinity that you'll like, http://www.korgforums.com/?show=1

I noticed a PCG download for the M1, and the M1 is a very good live piano, and I like most all the Korg organ sounds.

Otherwise Look at the Korg X 50, it's got lots of good sounds, much more modern that the Trin, and no sequencer, so the price is low, or a Yamaha Mo series, which has very nice pianos, and is very lightweight.

I use a couple of TR 61s, a Karma, and a Mo Rack, The TR is quite nice for the $, but it has a sequencer.
For performing, I use 1 TR, and the Karma, but am considering using 2 TRs, as the Karma is getting old like me, (60).
Good luck, I hope this helps, and welcome to the forum.
