Recommendations for something to go with kp3
Which would be better in your opinion to go along with the kp3, emx or esx. Personally im leaning towards the emx b/c of the synth, but im not exactly sure otherwise what the differences would be. (Im a total noob). If i got the elctribe would i really even need the kaoss? Would the sampling features still come in handy, or would i find my self mainly using the effects. I just got the kp3 today so i can return it and get the mini kp for effects if you guys dont think i will use the sampling. Also, any other brand or product in the 500 range to consider besides electribes.

Tbh the ESX is not that bad. mind you i'm coming from the MX so i know the way they work but i think it's pretty straightforward, load some samples into the SX and away. I'd probably say the MX though as the kp3 has sampling built in. Check out some of the demos on youtube of each one, there are plenty!808state wrote:get a Korg emx.
its SUCH a good compliment for the KP3.
if you got thise two, you'll have hours of fun..
emx is great if you are a noob, like myself.Th esx is far more advanced because you'll have to manage samples with smartmedia and all that jazz.

If you do get the MX upgrade the tubes!

I'd say go for the esx, it's a sampler which is cool cause you're not limited to the sounds of the machine, the kp3's sampler is not a full fledged sampler or sequencer so the esx is perfect, you can always get samples of an emx from an emx owner, as well as all kinds of samples from any synth you're intrested in.
The ES1 has been my KP3's best friend.
I am so happy with the es1 that I got 2!
The ESX just seemed too damn buggy and for the most part what ever was a simple process in es1 ended up being a pain in the ass in esx. That box lasted one week with me and i ended up trading it for a the AX3000 (best pedal board on the market).
With the es1 (and i hope with an esx) you can have your patterns trigger off your KP3 sample banks which is pretty cool. However a computer with ablton live can do the same thing but better.
so if you need a box to go with your KP3 look around for an ES1 or ES1 mark 2. they should be pretty cheap on e-bay.

Most things start out on the SX then i add sounds from the mx so i'm basically doing the exact opposite!zalo wrote:i generally always start on the emx
and then after i have worked on a song for a while and maybe let it sit for a week
i come up with some way to add samples into the song
i end up using the esx for complex vocal sample programming mostly
and if i want to throw in some real drums here and there

A this point i'd recommend the sx as well. @SMK, what do you mean by buggy? Had no buggy problems here.
