General Questions regarding the Triton Extreme.
1)Firstly, when was this model put out? because I can't seem to find it in stock ANYWHERE anymore. I have a Korg TR 61, but am looking to upgrade to some 88 key gear, and am considering this and the Korg M3, especially given the M3's new price drop.
2) Is the Triton Extreme better than the TR?
I know I'm probably better off to get the newer fancy M3, but I'd like to find some stuff out about this board. The TR seems to be poised by Korg as the successor to the Triton series.
Any information regarding this board would be nice!

Not sure when was it released, I think April or May 2004., but know that Extreme is discontinued for some time now and wont be produced any more. It is very hard to find any of them in stock.
M3 is the present flagship. You wont get a bed deal to buy it. But compared to Extreme, it has some...differences. Because of those differences, some musicians (including me) prefer Extreme over M3, and some musicians prefer M3 over Extreme.
If you will be able to find any new Extreme, or have a fellow musician who owns one, you should try Extreme, then go to store and try M3. With same audio setup preferably (same earphones). Then when you compare the two, you'll know which one is the one for you.
Comparing to TR, each one will be superior.
It's way better than TR. There is no real comparison between the two, Extreme is simply more powerful in every aspect. Of course, if you need and know how to use it.2) Is the Triton Extreme better than the TR?
I'm pretty sure TR isn't Triton successor.TR seems to be poised by Korg as the successor to the Triton series

1- The TEx was out in 2004, unfortunately its now been discontinued,
the only model still selling is the 61 key, which im sure theres not many left.
2- The TEx is way better than the TR, TR is a different board altogether,
althuogh the sound engine is identical, The TEx is a much more complete,
TEx has 160mb of PCM rom, inc. new samples, all the best from the EXB
cards, 120note polyphony, valve force, touchscreen, more effects, ribbon slider, open sampling in any mode, better keyboard action.

Then maybe You'd check Kawai offer (incl. their new MP5/MP8II SP/MIDI controllers). Their action is top quality. MP8II is based on their new AWA PROII action (http://www.kawaius.com/main_links/digit ... p_8II.html), though have on mind they're neither synths nor workstations (no aftertouch/sequencer).this_is_mocha wrote:The main reason I am looking at a new board is really because I want weighted keys. Being foremost a classical pianist, I reall don't like to play on anything but hammer action keys.
Best regards,
