Kaossilator trick to get more sampling time (double)

Post by argento »

I found it on casuality Kaossilator:

TURN ON, kaossiator while hold down TAP/BMP and LOOP REC/PLAY buttons and "DLY" appears on display.
Release both buttons ,KAOSSILATOR initialize.
Then press again TAP/BMP and LOOP REC/PLAY , rotate clockwise PROGRAM/VALUE and you can set up to "16".
Then record anything.
To erase recording press both LOOP REC/PLAY and SCALE , and "ErA" appear on display, so while pressing both buttons ,rotate PROGRAM/VALUE clockwise and "Clr" appears on display, release both buttons and memory is free now.

Very interesting. There's no FIX and then Canceling of overdubs
but that makes sense since the extra memory was probably
alloted to that function. There's also no beat counter on the looper.

I found that if you vary the tempo for a bit then bring it back
some very warped loops can be created. Fun. Thanks.

thanks for this trick. 16 beats goes a long way, you can even double that (for some tracks) by dialing the tempo down to half time. you can also get some great results with the rhythmic arpeggiator using this trick.

hm, I may be missing something here, but whenever I want to delete an overdub, it's either delete all sequences or nothing, is there a way around this? I may not have understood the manual perfectly, but I have read it many times, but I can't seem to find how to delete just the last overdub..

the 16 bar trick is nice tho :) It makes the kaossilator a whole new machine ;)

In 16-Bar mode you can only delete the entire loop or keep overdubbing.

yes, but I still don't know how to do it in regular 8 bar mode... I've done what the manual says, but it's still delete all or none.. what am I doing wrong?

OK - This just from memory - You have to save your loop before you can use the undo function:

1) When you have a loop going that you're happy with, you save it by holding the Loop Button down and rotating the knob clockwise to the top and then counter-clockwise to FIX, then release the Loop Button. The loop stops playing while it saves (which makes this pretty useless for live performance). Your loop is saved.

2) Press the Loop Button quickly to start the loop playing again. Add more overdubs. If you're happy with your overdubs repeat step 1) to save them too.

3) If you're not happy, hold down the Loop Button, rotate the knob clockwise to the top then rotate counterclockwise to CNL (or something that looks like Cancel) and then release the Loop Button. The loop stops and reverts to the last saved loop.

4) Go to step 2) and continue. Happy looping...

16 barz - looping fucntion...

in case any of you haven't noticed, a fun way to make beats/remix
beats is to start with the loop set at 1 or 2....then work your way to sixteen.
you will notice as you double the length, it keeps what you have recorded prior(it copies it). you will notice as well that is can record you switching between lengths. this works extremely well for breaking a beat. but you have to be on it, or else your cuts won't be smooth....and you anyone who owns the kp3 with the kaossilator, this other mode can make a huge difference, when you feel like glitching out. or need a good beat quickly...

I take it folks, that after the Kaossilator is turned off then back on, that it automatically resets & falls back into normal factory mode?
I very much want to try this trick but am also frightened it will always then stay in the 16 beats mode after I do it?

So, I have an important decision I need to make in the next couple of hours:

KO1 or KO2?

If you had a choice, which would you choose?

I ordered the KO1 after waiting a long time, and without having any idea about the KO2. I can refuse shipment on the package, get a full refund, and get the KO2, but I've heard that some people actually prefer the KO1.

I need lot's of opinion here!

Thanks.

KO2 by far. But there is plenty to do with the KO1 as well.

Why not keep the KO1 and enjoy it. Wait for a price decrease on the 2 and then buy one.
