Can this be done with the M3 + EXB-Radias?

Post by khol »

Can this be done with the M3 alone, or with an EXB-Radias mounted?

I kind of suck at singing and would be thankful with something like this :)

That's really cool. I had not seen that feature on the V-Synth before. Harmonizers have sure come a long way in the past few years. This one actually sounds pretty good.

The Vocal Designer is a "harmonizer" which is different then the Vocoder functions on the Radias so unfortunately you can't do the on the M3 with Radias.

What's the difference between harmonizer and vocoder?

vocoder is like a multiband filter based on an audio input
it modulates a synth sound applying some characteristics of your voice to it
so it still sounds more like a synth than a real voice

a harmonizer is more of the "auto-tune" nature - it changes the pitch of your voice and/or adds "copies" of it (creating harmonies)

Greg and or anybody,

Could you tell us how we could sound like Cher with the EXB Radias?

Also:

What to like better the EXB-Radias or the Radias-R Thanks for your input!

Cheers,

Jesse

Re: your 1st question, they're talking about using the vocoder function, which blends your voice with synth sounds for a cool effect. Unfortunately I haven't gotten to play with vocoders much yet, so I can't give tips on how to tweak the result towards a certain tone, but here's a topic that touches a bit on playing with the vocoder:

I've also read that Cher may have used something like Antares AutoTune for some of those effects in "Believe", so a vocoder alone may not get you quite that same sound, if that's what you're trying to recreate.

Re: your 2nd question, here's a topic with a good explanation of the differences between the EXB-Radias & Radias-R:
