Perhaps they will make the new OASYS light blue for the boys and pink for the girls

I definitely agree with this. The existing OASYS AOpen motherboard is no longer in production (and no longer available in the retail marketplace -- I checked), so Korg Japan MUST have a finite supply of these motherboards. They have to hold back some number for repair parts purposes, so there definitely is some real point in time when Korg can no longer manufacture new OASYS keyboards.

If Korg does decided to continue production, I would predict they would take the route of "Rev B". It would be very interesting to see if a "Rev B" would be sold for a lower price, which could be possible if Korg has recouped most (or all) of their initial development cost. Remember the Triton Extreme example -- providing 8 "free EXB-PCM boards", which was possible because Korg had recovered their investment in EXBs by that time.

no it's more like 25 more arrangers...

KORG is focusing too much on Arrangers,
it was a little surprise when they released the OASYS.

Pa1Xpro had a color touch screen, blue LEDs, way before KORG Workstations got one.

Maybe KORG is giving up on Workstations because of Software and VST instruments....

There really is more than one "Korg". There is:
-- Korg R&D (primary ownership of the OASYS)
-- Korg Italy (arrangers and digital pianos)
-- Korg Japan

Time spent on arranger technology doesn't necessarily take away from development on other products.

Recently I had an issue with my Oasys...I had to send it to korg for repair

... I figured that they'd take a look at it, fix it, and send it out to me asap. Funny thing is, they sent me a replacement Oasys instead of just fixing it. Different model number completely. I didn't think much of it until I saw this thread, but now...it makes total sense. Since my mother board took a dump it was much easier for them to send out a replacement vs replacing the mother board itself...at least thats what it sounds like. Although I was extremely thankful, I can't see them doing this forever. An Oasys II seems very realistic to me.

The Oasys II,III, IV is already out, it's just under a different name: Kore 2.

Kore 2 is a definite improvement over Kore 1 (I have owned both) but it definitely is not an OASYS.

Just read this thread, and a tad troubling since my last post was regarding seriously considering getting an OASYS !

I've thought many times about the simple hardware issues of spare parts, mobos, CPUs, RAM, etc - I work in that area so I know what the product lifetimes are like.

I've also been wondering if there will be a Version 2.0 OASYS OS anytime soon, when maybe we see some major upgrades - that's the real advantage of the software-based OS.

Just my 10 cents...

Andy,

It's my opinion that too many of us get caught up in having the latest gee gaw (myself included). But when it comes to electronics and computers, there is no way you can ever stop the geometric rise of new things coming down the pike.

That said, I'm not sure anyone can pick the "right time" to buy - things will always change over time. In my case, I bought the "O" because it was time for me to get back into music and the "O" seemed like a great complement to my studio for things I want to do.

I full well realize that there will always be some new piece that comes along, since I have about 16 distinct synth/keyboards/ sound modules myself. I think there is still a place for each of them in my work.

I wouldn't think of telling anyone when or whether to buy what, all I can tell you is that IMO one "O" under hand is worth more than 2 "O2's" in the bush. I'm having fun now!
