I never liked fixed force note.
Oh yes, I used to play with fixed notes 12 year ago when I had Casio MT750 & Yamaha PSS-50 :D

There are certain music impressions which you can generate only with Touch Sense but with fixed notes, you can't.

If you are playing like a Piano/ Banjo/ Guitar sound with keyboard, it definitely needs touch response, well there are many other sounds as well.

I always play with Touch Response, doesn't matter whatever instrument sound I select, it just sounds lovely and sounds like you have full control over a notation.

Hi Friends,

Very strang topic.

Fixed vs Touch Response.

I always tought that Touch Response is Fixed with addon's (sound volume, sound effects etc..).

So why does anybody ever want to play fixed if he has got touch response ? ( been there, done it, are now using better. As shahid mentioned)

There is somthing else (i am still exploring my pa800) are there sounds were the aftertouch is programmed and are there users using this feature?

Can you assign the aftertouch to an effect or something else ???

Regards,
Sanjai

Hey Sandy !!

If you haven't tried playing with After touch, please do !!!!

I bet you will fall in love with it and you will start hating fixed velocity notes !!! that's my promise !!

Apart from the tone instruments, I always use Touch Res with Drum kits when composing a new style specially with Hi-Hats, when you loop hi hats with touch resp, some strokes are recorded on low velocity some with high depends on how you want to force each key according to your Beat requirements, then the final result comes up like someone played the Drums Live, this feature Humanize the notes as when a Live Drummer playes the drums, each of his strokes have a different velocity, same thing applies to all Tone instruments as well

I think you have got my point.

Thanks

No, it's not an important topic actually, just ignoreable that's why I said you don't need to know about it :) ,

the topic is about when you hit any key on the keyboard, how loud it sounds depending on the force you apply on it and that is "Touch Response" and if it is turned off, the key will sound with the same velocity no matter you press it hard or soft.

This Touch response can be turned off from settings.

I have seen many musicians avoid valocity & aftertouch but uses volume pedal which just increase or decrease the volume but the velocity can even maintain the expression of the instrument. Check it out with for e.g. Saxophone sound. Use velocity but no volume pedal or otherway. You will realise the difference. You can avoid the use of volume pedal. I have not used any volume pedal since I am having the keyboards with velocity & later on velocity plus aftertouch. Ofcourse this is my personal opinion.

Hitesh.
