The unique part of the OASYS is that PCI card that contains its product ID. Its been a long time since I attempted it, and I know more about Linux now than I did back then, so I think that one could potentially compile a compatible kernel for a motherboard, incorporate the real-time linux extensions ...

Hi Dan, Can you provide more details on these steps? Are you ripping the CD in sampling mode, or on your computer and then transferring the file via USB? I put an Audio CD in the OASYS drive, and then I ripped the first soundtrack from the Audio CD to the OASYS internal hard drive. After that, I can ...

Hi Mike, My OASYS is running 1.3.3 and I just confirmed that it can audition 48K wav files, in Disk mode. Make sure you are auditioning .wav files, as opposed to KSF. Try this out, import an audio CD and store it as a WAVE file on the hard disk. In Disk Mode, you can audition the WAVE file by ...

Hi Mike,
Did you manage to put together a second OASYS DVD? I'm going to put this sequencer workflow in a presentation format and will share it with the community, if it works fine!

I've also found that the OASYS is efficient on disk space, when doing this, so even if you copy paste region data corresponding to a WAVE file for the second song, it will not physically copy the WAVE file over. So, you can have multiple region data, all working from the same WAVE file. I guess that ...

Ok, found the solution, I had to select two file consecutively, so if in Song 002, you had setup Audio tracks 01 and 02 to be a stereo pair, then click on ==== Track End =====, press the insert button, and in the region data window, select the first L channel track, and then select the R channel ...

I had to select ==== Track End =====, and then press the Insert button to add existing region data. I just have a question, I initially recorded the two individual tracks, by setting audio track 01 and 02 as a stereo pair, thus resulting in two separate monoaural audio tracks at 48Khz. Now, for the ...

Cannot insert new audio event to an empty audio track

Hi, I have one song (Song 001) in which I created a stereo-paired audio track and recorded it to disk. After that I proceed to create a second song (Song 002) using the OASYS sequencer, and copy pasted the region data from Song 001 to Song 002. Now when I go to the audio event edit mode, for track ...

Disk mode cannot audition 48Khz wave files & no OS updat

Hi, I just found an bug in the OASYS 1.3.3 disk mode functionality. It can audition/playback 44.1 Khz files, but it cannot do so for 48Khz files. I was trying to create new audio region data, from 44.1Khz files stored in the internal hard drive, and then add them to a song using the OASYS sequencer ...

No updates to the OASYS since OS 1.3.1 (Dec 2007)

Hi,
It's been 10 months since the last OS/feature update and thinks are awfully quiet. Are no more developments / feature enhancements planned?

Hi, Acronis Disk Director has a partition manager that can be used to copy partition images to an external hard drive. You need to remove the Oasys HDD, connect it to a USB enclosure (or 2nd HDD bay of an IBM ThinkPad), run Disk Director and opt to save all the linux partitions to a disk image file.

What software you used to clone the HDD? And did you clock the startup time before and after?
I used Acronis Disk Director. There was no perceptable noise increase. I didnt time it, but I think it's about 1.75 times faster than the 4200RPM one.

Hi,
The original hard drive is a 4200RPM unit, but I replaced mine with a faster 7200RPM 60GB hitachi drive. It's much faster loading the EXs now and its really quite simple to upgrade the hard disk, once you've cloned it's contents.

I wouldnt take a risk with a used unit repacked into its original packing and shipped across to you. I would recommed that you get a flight case and have it shipped (which is not so easy, since a flight case for the OASYS will weigh as much as the OASYS itself, increasing your shipping costs) or you ...

That said, realistic drum sounds (i.e. BFD) are NOT what you want for this genre. I've nearly completed the BFD2/OASYS tutorial. I bought BFD2 for getting some good acoustic drum sample close to the kick drum in One Republic's acoustic version of Apologize, track 4 on their album. From what I've ...
