Not exactly...

I actually want to create a split with the same sound on both sides, but one delayed by 100 ms (different noted being played, of course - if not I could just add delay on the one sound).

Any way to do that?

Is pre-delay possible?

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm using the right terminology of 'pre-delay' in my post title. Is it possible to delay the generation of a sound by a specific time or beat interval after the note is pressed? I am not talking about the amp envelope attack (where the sound gradually gets louder but still starts ...

I like your pad better -- the filter is turned down, which is why it's more subtle than the first example. Not sure what is causing that wobble you're hearing... maybe a chorus or some other effect? Or it could be a LFO gently modulating the amp, filter, or even the osc pitch. But it does add a ...

How are you getting on mtlkeys? Any joy? Still frustrated? As I am always annoyed when an OP disappears after a long post with no update or resolution, here is my update. Sorry it took so long to get back to the forum. Hardsync, I tried your pad as you described. Perhaps I didn't follow ...

Yowza!

Will give it a read, though.

@ mtlkeys, All the programing advice, if I was not clear before, happens at the program level - not combi. You can't get simpler by adding layers. If the string patch start point is not working for you then try (as suggested in the thread so far) starting from another pad like source - organ, slow ...

[quote="Synthoid" May I recommend this... if you are new to the world of synthesis, it would be extremely helpful to Google the topic and do some preliminary reading. [/quote] I am not a *complete* newbie to programming, I am just hopeless  I understand the concept of ADSR envelopes, filters ...

Indeed I did miss it, Hardsync.

I will try it out later and let you know about the results either way.

Many thanks!

Synthoid:

Before settling on the combi I did try that, in program mode, as you and Bill had suggested. The result was not pretty.

If you listen closely to the pad sound on Cyndi's song, you can hear it's layered with an organ at low volume. That really helps that basic pad stand out without taking over the mix. Did you try that--layering a string sample with an organ sample? Once you find something that's close it's often ...

So, after forty minutes of trying last night I got frustrated and gave up. I could not get anything even remotely in the ballpark of what I was trying to achieve.

Anyone able/willing to help with even a starting point to try tweak?

Thank you both for your detailed replies.

I will try to muddle through it tonight. I know deep down it is important to learn to do it myself instead of being handed a .PCG by another forum reader...

BB, Thank you for your reply. You hit the nail on the head describing my problem with finding the appropriate sound. If I replace OSC 1 and OSC 2 with simple waves, will that completely get rid of the string-ish sound? Perhaps you only suggested starting with a string program because the other (non ...

Help with finding or programming pad sound on M50

I would appreciate any input on this as I'm hopeless in sound design. I am looking for some basic pad sounds to accompany my band on songs that otherwise don't have too much in the way of keyboard parts. I find that most of the m50's pads are really atmospheric and moving and don't sit well as ...
