The sound you are looking for is similar to the old popcorn sound. That band is using that sound like a cowbell. Start off with a pluck sound patch... Use a square or pulse-width waveform. Attack 0, short attacks on decay & sustain, Release 0 on your envelopes...play with that and filter to taste.

Agrees with plosive...it may be a power supply thing.
Try doing a reset on your synth.
Make sure you connect a midi cable from your out to in (for the midi loop test or it will lock up and say loop error)
Hold down the Mod/Seq & 3 buttons and power up. Hope this helps.
