As of today, a new version of PCG Tools is released (3.1.0).
The two most important change are support for the new released Korg Krome EX. This bring the total number of supported models to 60.
Also, a new feature to select any number of combis, combi banks, set list slots or set lists, and the volume of them can be changed simultaneously. In case of combis, the used parameters are changed, set list slots have their own volume. You can change volume by a fixed value (e.g. make them all 100), by a change (e.g. subtract 20 from all patches, of course it will never exceed 0 and 127). And you can even map them between two values (e.g. between 80 and 100), or a smart mapping which checks the current volumes and maps them to the new mapping values. It can be found under Edit, Change Volume. Thanks to translators for the translations.
As always, the application is free and can be found at http://pcgtools.mkspace.nl
Enjoy/kind regards,

Dear PCG Tools users,
I just updated the manual of PCG Tools.
It can be downloaded from http:\\pcgtools.mkspace.nl in the download section.
Kind regards,

I have been trying to finda solution for compacting banks without losing links to wave sequences.
As far as I understand from the manual ("..WARNING] Compacting wave sequences, drum kits or drum patterns will not update references from other patches (like used wave sequences in a program, drum kits used by a program, drum patterns used by a drum program etc") one will lose references to wave seq etc when you compact and probably move banks to other locations?? How can this be avoided?
What am trying to do it basically clean up and sort my sounds/patches and free up mainly bank U-GG for various reasons.
I did lose a few drum patterns when I tried exactly this right in the beginning after I got my Kronos LS 6 months ago... _________________ Kronos 2-88 & X73, Kurzweil MicroPiano, Spitfire Albion V Tundra, BBCO Core, Nylon Guitar Ilya Efimov, Xtant Audio Uilleann Pipes - in use

If you move/copy/paste/sort/compact PROGRAM banks, than everything will be ok (meaning no wave sequences/drum kits will be affected).
However, when you move wave sequences or drum kits around, than programs using those wave sequences or drum kits can be affected.
From what I hear from you is you only change the order within program banks (U-GG), so in that case it's safe.
There is no way to move wave sequences/drum kits around, without affecting program banks (at least not with PCG Tools or within the Korg Kronos itself). _________________

Thank you Michel, and yes, I am cleaning up within program banks, but also move whole banks, or - rather move programs from one bank to another.
So I take it this is also "safe"? Am not moving/cleaning up wave sequences as such. _________________ Kronos 2-88 & X73, Kurzweil MicroPiano, Spitfire Albion V Tundra, BBCO Core, Nylon Guitar Ilya Efimov, Xtant Audio Uilleann Pipes - in use

Yes, that is safe ... just do not move wave sequences or drum kits .
When you do, you have to manually change every program using them.
However, in all cases, make a backup before and meanwhile, as there is no Undo function within PCG Tools. _________________

|
|
Hello all,
I would like to make back up copies of my KORG T3 keyboard patch disks.
I have PCG tools 3.1.0 installed on my Windows 10 PC.
I am using a Newtronics D359T6 (Mitsumi) 1.4MB floppy drive connected to the PC with a floppy card to USB converter .
I can read/write and format floppy disks in an MS-DOS prompt with disks that have traditional files on them, so I know the drive is working.
But I can not seem to work with or see the .PCM files on my KORG disks.
When I try to access them using PCG Tools I get the error message:
A:\ is not accessible.
The disk media is not recognized. It may not be formatted.
Looking to remedy this, what am I missing?
What is the best way to make full copies of the the disks onto other Floppies and also to save the files on my hard disk for when I move to a floppy emulator.

@markustg,
There are two issues to consider. First, the floppy format. Is the T3 floppy format compatible with MS-DOS?
When you put the T3 disk in the drive, from a CMD prompt, can you run DIR A: and see files listed?
If not, the floppy format is not compatible and it cannot be accessed by PCGTools or any Windows or DOS application.
If you can see the files, then the disk is compatible. Then the other problem is the file type.
.PCM sounds like some type of sample file. PCGtools only supports PCG files, which contain program and combi data. It does not support sample data from any Korg instrument.
If you're only interested in backing up data, you may be able to do it using MIDI Sysex. If the T3 can send all the data as MIDI, you can capture and save the SysEx files as a backup. Later they can be sent back to the T3 if needed. _________________ Kronos2 73, Presonus StudioLive, Cakewalk / Sonar Platinum, Windows 10 |

@marcustg
Thanks timg and GerardH69 for your answers.
To add something, if you look at http://pcgtools.mkspace.nl/support.html , you can see for the T3, it supports the following file types:
syx, mid (sysex)
This means it supports a system exclusive file (which can be acquired via MIDI) or a mid file containing system exclusive data.
So you don't need to copy your floppy to your PC or insert it in a PC floppy drive (to they still exist?). _________________
