It does exactly the same as formatting through service menu.Except that from service menu you can check the condition of the nand too!
Pa800 and pa2x have 2 memories inside
A NOR one which contains the bootloader (can't be formatted by user as nobody has the bin file (except if you dump it alone)) and a NAND that is used as a simple sd card (not same protocol but just to compare it to something most users are familiar with)..
When you format the NAND you actually delete all its contents for the new OS to be installed in..
That doesn't clear the bad sectors..If the sectors are bad it is a hardware fault not a software one and unfortunately there is nothing to do except from changing NAND...
There is a way to try to recover bad sectors in case of them got false triggered by the system but a flash programmer is needed as long as skills to desolder and resolder the chip... _________________ ~~~The best keyboard for any player is the one that fits his/her needs!~~~

Well if changing the chip didn't fix it there are a lot of other things that could be wrong with it...
I advice you to download the service manual and check everything _________________ ~~~The best keyboard for any player is the one that fits his/her needs!~~~
