|
|
I am a new Kross 61 owner and have a casio PX-5S as my main hammer action controller. I'd like to be able to filter out controller info being recieved by the Kross. Example: sometimes I will play the casio and use it to control and layer both it's sounds and the Kross sounds while only playing the casio. Problem being some of the sliders and controls on the casio PX-5S when moved adjust some things on the Kross which is not what I want. I only want the Kross to receive the basic note on and off from the master keyboard and not the data from the various knobs and sliders from the casio.
Any ideas on how to do this?

Not too familiar with the Kross but it should have a few midi filter pages in the combi and sequence modes. |

Page 90 of USA_KROSS_ParamG_E PDF manual "MIDI FILTERING"... you will find all that you want.
Don't worry, the Kross OS is quite complet ! |

I'm doing something similar except with a korg sp250 digital piano instead of the casio (although i think the PX-5S will be my next DP)
I pretty much always use the Kross editor software, in which it is super easy to filter things in combis. I've never actually tried it from the menu on the Kross itself, but it will be there. _________________ Stage: Korg Krome 88

Interesting so what can u filter out? In global mode I see I can filter out stuff but it seems an all except note on and off proposition. I'd really like to be able to filter all controllers except the damper pedal and possibly the pitch and mod wheels that would be nice _________________ Korg Kross 61

It's not in global, its in combi mode, and you will have to set it up for every combi you use.
What can you filter?
program change
after touch
damper
portamento
pitch bend
mod wheel
joystick y
ribbon
sw 1
sw 2
foot pedal
foot switch
other cc
So on the Kross, go into your combi.
Press menu
Press the down arrow about 5 or 6 times to "midi filter"
press "ok"
You will then see all the parameters you can filter and go from there.
On the editor software (which I highly recommend if you don't have it, just attach the Kross to your Macbook via usb, and it is free)
Again go into combi mode, select "Timbre Param" and then below that is a tab that says "midi filter" _________________ Stage: Korg Krome 88

awesome. i was hoping for a global filter as i tend to control the kross from a master board that as its own sounds too and i layer both keyboards togeter i can work easy enough by using combi mode i just will have to mod quite a few sounds. cheers _________________ Korg Kross 61

might be worth it to track down a little pocket midi filter. Anatek used to make them - powered off of the Master Keyboard's midi - and they're really small - they have about 10 dip-switches that can selectively filter out Midi messages from the Midi signal. There's a slight possibility that your needs may fall in between the cracks of what this thing can do, but, good luck! Also a bigger (bulkier - 1 rack space) solution is the old yamaha MEP-4 (I think that's it...) midi processor. Akai made one too.
With a unit like this (especially the tiny Anatek) you wouldn't have to edit all your combis one at a time...
ps. the anatek units look like this: but the ebay listing below is for a different product from them, which splits 1 into 3. the pocket filter may be hard to find.

I thought for sure there was a global MIDI filtering page on the Kross? I don't have it in front of me at the moment, but.... |
