I know this may be an old one, but I'm getting some bad comments about the quality of x50... what should I do? would you recommend it as a good replacement of the x5d?? or should I go 4 the rolando juno-d??
sorry if I'm upsetting anyone with this...

well, I've seen that here in Argentina it's being sold quite a lot (I mean the x50), but some say that it's not as strong, sturdy, "rock hard" as some others, perhaps when it comes to the knobs and buttons, that it tends to break easily. I'd be surprised if it comes from korg, which are products I really like and use, but I don't know...
I was just having those misgivings... am I wrong?

Wrong:) If you're used to the classical 25+lbs whales, then yes, it seems almost illegally fidgety and frail, but after half a year of mistreating it and live gigging and all - it's as good as ever.
And for the price.. bah, the sound is LOVE. |

well, now that you mention it, yeah, that's what I heard a lot about: the keyboard itself, that it had this nasty cheap feeling to it compared EVEN to the old x5d
is it true that x50's got a "new" (low-budget) system that replaces the springs beneath the keys and instead makes the plastic flexible so you can BEND them??
I know I'm a bit fussy, but I am seriously considering this synth due to its sounds and controls, and want to clear any doubts...
thanx

I didn't crack my beastie up, so I wouldn't know.
The keyboard feel is a bit love-or-hate type.. after a week or so I got used to it and find it very comfortable for playing - but if you were brought up on classical pianos you're most prolly on the hate side.
But as I mentioned, I mistreat the keys heavily, wham them without mercy, and they're still there |

well, tiayviel, thankx a lot, so I see u would definitely recommend this synth. I guess I'll go to a music shop around and give it a try.
1 final question, have u got any ideas why ON EARTH they chose to do away with midi thru on this one?

@ ferchis
Giving the X50 a go at your local dealer really seems to be the most sensible thing.
Personally, I must say that before giving the synth a 'hands-on try' myself, I had read some harsh criticism concerning the feel of the X50's keyboard. All I can say is that the keys felt alright at the store - I played it for an hour and a half. Then I actually bought a 1 1/2 year old X50 on ebay and even those used keys are just fine - certainly not great but OK. Chances are that the sound and portability of the X50 will positively outweigh its mediocre keyboard.
Hope this helps!

Just my two cents. For what it costs the x50 is a great value. It does take awhile to get used to a keyboard that weighs almost nothing(7 lbs.). Of course being that lightweight everything is plastic and the keybed is one of the lightest synth keybeds I've ever played on. The only odd thing is that the x50 seems to respond better when driven from another midi controller. The velocity sensing and the sustains seem to be a bit strange(IMHO) when played directly.
Other than that I think it's a fantastic machine.
(It is my only keyboard that fits in a standard electric guitar case ) |

I think they did away with the MIDI Thru because the synth is aimed at users with a computer set-up, rather than people with multiple hardware synths. With MIDI coming through the USB cable, the IN/OUT on the machine are basically bonus MIDIs, so they probably figured they had everything covered. _________________ http://www.novakill.com

I didn't really need everything the TR offers, Sampling, sequencer, Dual Arps, but it sounded so good after the Juno D, that I just snached it up.

perhaps you should have bought the x50?
though the tr probably has a nicer keyboard _________________ Harpy.com.au |
