ES2 Froze while exporting all samples. Has this happened to anyone? I was forced to power down and alas all of my samples are gone now as well. Any tips or ideas on how to avoid a future mishap or how to recover?

You may have ran into a bug. Try doing the same again and see if you get the same result, if so notify Korg. Their testing is pretty much non-existant. So we have todo the testing and buig reporting for them.

Try another sd card.

Thanks for the replies. Have to get my hands on another sd card as the issue is recurring. Frustrating, as I really do like the workflow on this device.

Just went out and switched the Sandisk SDHC 8GB with a PNY 4GB/GO card. No longer get the freeze/lose my data, I also get quite a boost in export performance. I am a happy camper... for now

This is happening to me as well. I had skimmed the manual before buying the sampler, and completely missed the lonely brief aside where it's mentioned that an SD card is required to save user samples... What a horrible idea that is. Why on earth would I buy a sampler if not to save the things I'm sampling?

So, I went out and bought an SD card just for this thing -- the manual specifies that an SDHC up to 32GB is fine, so I bought an SDHC at 16GB, and now it's frozen at 091% in the Data Util, exporting all samples.

Now it looks like I have to go buy another SD card and gamble that it will work? How ridiculous... Get your s**t together, Korg.

This might help you. If any of your wav samples you importing are incompatible with the Electribe system that will happen.

So every time I import samples via the SD card I run them through my audio editors bulk converter to standard 44100hz 16bit resolution.

So, it looks like the issue was that it was a brand new, un-E2S-formatted SD card, but instead of complaining about formatting, the unit tried to write to the thing anyways.

It was also frozen to the extent that even the power button didn't work, so I had to unplug the thing. I was a bit worried this might fry the SD card (something I've done before in other contexts), but it seems to be ok.

Going to the "format" option in the Data Util menu and formatting the SD card, and then trying again seems to have worked, and the sample that I've recorded is now loading on boot.

But, this begs another question that's slightly off topic: it seems that I must choose between *only* samples from the SD card (i.e. the things I've recorded into the machine), OR *only* the builtin samples. Is this correct? If that's the case, how is one to go about using built-in drum sounds with a user-recorded sample?
