Hi !

One friend of mine who's just got Kronos asked me to find out ,
which exactly breath controllers models are totally compatible and will work perfectly with Korg Kronos ?

I think Kelfar released one recently. That's the company of our member "ak".

The BCK-1 and the BCXP Pro work perfectly with the Korg Kronos.

Korg Kronos does not have a BC input. Kelfar Technologies made a solution and you will need the BCXP PRO to convert the BCK-1 signal to work with the Korg Kronos.

I don't know, sorry, I think Kelfar went through a lot of effort to produce one because the main selling one (BC3A) was discontinued by Yamaha...

Haven't tried Kelfar yet but do have TEControl and it works well with the Kronos. Just plug in USB and go. You can set up the curve and response on your computer.

On a Kronos, what does the TEControl control? Is that velocity? Or is this assignable e.g. on one program aftertouch and another velocity? Or does Kronos have breath assigned in certain patches? If you have a breath and bite controller, then what does bite control?

I'm not sure if the Kronos has preprogrammed breath anywhere (CC#2) but a quick way to set it up for most cases would be to set it the controller to CC#11, "expression". All Kronos programs respond to that.

The TEControl can be programmed to send any control change #, aftertouch or pitch bend. You have control of bending, symmetry, input min/max, output min/max.

I set mind to CC#02 and then edit my programs to respond accordingly. Here are some brass/winds that have been edited to respond to CC#02.

Yes, doing something like cc#11 might work find for ones needs. What I wanted to do is have it so that when you press a note on the Kronos, if you're not blowing, you don't hear a sound or hear very little sound. This is how a synth like the Yamaha VL-1 works with breath control. So turning off the normal function of pressing a note and getting a sound has to be addressed. On the Kronos I found most programs required me to have a small amount of sound come through at note depress (but no breath control). Not a big deal. Breath control is still highly effective on the Kronos.

Just bought the newest breath controller from TEControl. It also has a bite parameter that can be assigned to CC#s and a few other things. Really haven't had a lot of time to work with it yet, but I think the breath function seams a bit more responsive than the breath only version.

I have the TEControl and it works great with Kronos. It's recognized automatically when plugged into the USB port.

A simple to use and lightweight software (must run it on a computer) can change any setting and/or the sensitivity curve of the breath controller.

Great piece of kit, recommended.
