Expression pedal mapped only to L/R Outputs?

I tried to use the expression pedal hookup today for volume (via stereo cord into assignable pedal), instead of the in-line Ernie Ball I've been using. It worked great, except when I tried my programs that output to 1 instead of L/R. Is there a way to assign this expression pedal to the 1-4 outputs?

my guess is that your ' stereo cord ' is the source of the problem.

expression pedal works only with "stereo cord" as far as I know. otherwise interested and me how to kontrol 1-4 outputs with expression pedal

Normally the pedal is to be set as Expression CTL=11 in Global.

Then, select which programs in the Combination you want to respond to EXP via the MIDI Filter page three, pedal.

You don't have it control outputs, rather, it controls program volumes or individual programs in a combi. It doesn't matter what output a sound goes to. If it is selected to respond to EXP, it will.

I must try then in combi mode to adjust pad to control with exp pedal

I'm guessing that the pedal is assigned to Master Volume. Is that correct?

If so - it's the same as the digital Master Volume slider, and affects only the main stereo output. It also controls the volume after all effects, even TFX.

As Geo suggests, CC#11 may be more what you're looking for; this will affect sounds regardless of output assignment. It's also pre-IFX.

Thanks for the info guys. I've not been near my keyboard since I wrote this (out of town), but it sounds like this controller change is only applicable to programs within a combi. Is that true? Can you do this if you want to directly control a program itself rather than a program within a combi?

Not at all. Expression will control any program. The combi just allows you to control specific programs while ignoring others.

For example, I use a combi so I can have strings/pad on my expression pedal that is layered with a piano. The piano is set to NOT respond to expression while the strings do. That way, I can play piano and when I want, fade in the strings with the pedal.

exact same here. I use this to fade string programs in and out , within a (layered) combi. and the volume of all other Programs remain the same.

So, it seem that the Roland XVP-10 pedal I bought isn't very linear when it comes to expression (volume) change. Seems that the rise in volume from zero to max is about in the first 30-40% of pedal travel and then from there on it's full on. I've change the knob on the top from min to max and it seem to do nothing. I'm assuming there's no adjustment of this response within the Kronos, correct? Just wondering if my new pedal is faulty.

Also, where in a given program, is the assignment of the pedal to cc#11? Or is that the assignment on every program if it's set that way in the global settings?

Thanks!

I've never used the Roland pedal. I have an Alesis and the Korg. Both work well. There is no scaling adjustment that I know of.

The exp CC-11 should work on any sound.

read 6 posts up for program. also make sure your Kronos sees the pedal in Global/controllers

In Global Mode, make sure that you assign the pedal to CC#11 NOT CC#7. If you use CC#7 you will not be able to filter the pedal in a Combi. Hope this helps.
