Second SSD and installation recs
I have just added the additional ram to my original Kronos and now wish to add a second SSD. Can anyone recommend a drive that they have installed with no glitches and that would come shipped with any necessary cables, mounting screws etc? Also, do these new drives need to be formatted and if so, what do I need to accomplish this? Are the original installation disks needed? Sorry for all the questions but I am kind of new to this end of things and really would like a clear recommendation on the drive and any necessary parts that are needed to preclude problems.
All help is much appreciated.
Thank you
Charlie

Here's what you need:

I just bought the drive he recommended and put it in earlier this week. Only thing - the 18" sata cable was a but tight. One a little longer would be better. I also bought a pack of M3 screws to mount the disk.

I've added a 256GB SSD (Samsung EVO 830) in my Kronos, it works fine.JFree wrote:I want to add a second drive as well. Nice instruction, but old. Is 120G the max size? Maybe a sticky with known compatible drives on the forum?

It's gonna take me a LONG time to fill 120 GB. Couldn't see a need to go to 256...JFree wrote:I want to add a second drive as well. Nice instruction, but old. Is 120G the max size? Maybe a sticky with known compatible drives on the forum?

Recently installed a Seagate 750GB as a 2nd SSD to my Kronos X 73. Formatted with no problems and functioning very well just as expected.
Decided on larger drive, as these sample libraries are becoming larger and larger. EXs17 / EXs18 / KRS07 sound pack is a good example. Installed those files & samples directly to the 2nd drive with no issues, just had to add them to the "auto load".
If I ever sell my Kronos X, this will definitely be an added selling bonus.

If you add a second drive (instead of replacing the original drive), can you install the sound libraries to it?

According to this Yep ... http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... 331#629331
But AFAIK the main GBs size of FXs PCM dat files can be installed only in Boot SSD , and only PCG/KSC path files will be
written at the second SSD (just 50 Mb size) !
You may have to ask danatkorg to confirm this !
