Is there a kid-safe mode?

Hi there.

Just got my Kronos X 73 last night. Uh, it's pretty clear it will take me years to scratch the surface of this beast, if I may mix metaphors freely.

I'm wondering if there's some way to put this thing into a "kid mode" where my kids can do pretty much everything they want -- press buttons, turn knobs, wire up patch panels, etc. -- but everything they do stays in volatile RAM, and rebooting erases all their changes and returns the board to its initial state.

This is probably a stupid question, but even after some perusal of the manual, it was not clear to me.

The Memory Protect Parametes on the Basic Setup screen in Global mode may provide some protection.

They'd also have to do pretty specific and extreme things to erase the backups on disk. Even if they overwrite programs in memory you should be able to load a PCG file from disk and restore everything in maybe 20 seconds.

I don't know about your kids, but I let my son play with mine all the time. He doesn't save anything (he doesn't know how or even the concept of that - he's only 6) and resetting everything is just a reboot away. He's been playing with it since he was 3 and I've never had a problem. His cousins play on it, too.

as long as they don't write any changes (specifically via the screen), then you are fine. If your kids are older, you can have a talk with them about what not to do on it (or they don't get to touch it). But if you're really worried, you can do a save-all to save all of your programs and keep a copy on a thumb drive.

Global changes are not kept unless you specifically write global changes.

Do you want a restraining order? Because that's how you get a restraining order!

Anyway, mem protection should be fine, and you can lock down directories on your SSD as well, so should be doable with 3-4 minutes of "tweaking" before letting your kid at it.

Back up your files to a USB drive including PCG and all sample data. Keep them away from global mode and let them have fun.

Do you want a restraining order? Because that's how you get a restraining order!

Don't know about kids, but a couple years ago my cat, who like to walk on it and make sounds, was somehow able to change the keyboard mapping so that the high notes were on the left end and low ones on the right. Power cycle fixed it.

hahaha--- what a Cat!!!

My 3 years litlle boy likes very much to move the faders an click the screen, with no consequences so far. Only need to reebot.

My concern is more about the expression pedal, my children often play with their playmobiles over it and it seem loose now... anyway.
