I haven't turned on my M3 in about a year. I had a KRONOS for a while which I sold.

My issue is that I can't calibrate the screen. I have followed the Global Enter 4 to get to the calibration screen, but I can only darken the lower right square and the upper left square is not being affected ie doesn't go dark.

Is there something else I can do or is this a case for replacing the screen (there are no marks or cracks on the screen).

Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find a link.

The replacement screen kit is on my 'consideration list'. However, do I need to go that route, yet? If I don't have to, I would prefer another way to calibrate. I just think the screen is a bit off and may not need replacement. I want to eliminate other options first, if I can.

Okay, I had an epiphany last night. I got out a dry cloth swiffer and wiped the screen, and used my fingernail around the edges until I could see no marks or smudges or dust. Lo and behold, it calibrates! I should've realized that dirt may have got into it as the M3M was being stored on a top shelf without a case or plastic on top. I had it there for about a year while I was exploring a KRONOS (which I recently sold).

The lesson: Make sure the screen is free of dust before and try to calibrate it afterwards before replacing the screen.

Now to decide whether i should get an extra screen for later.

I'm curious: What orientation was your M3 being stored in? What angle?

Flat on its back on a top shelf (storage) for about a year (while I was using the KRONOS).

I started having a very odd touch screen problem. When I first turned on the M3 the screen was fine but after a few hours the calibration seemed to drift and was off by about half an inch. It was off so much I couldn't get the menu to recalibrate.

I wiped the screen with a dry cloth and rebooted and the screen became completely unresponsive. I just left it turned on and came back after about 4 hours and surprisingly the screen was perfectly calibrated. I did not even touch the M3 during that time.

I'm curious if any one else experienced this type of intermittent failure / self recalibration or if perhaps something else is going on.

Someone suggested to me that my issue (similar to yours in the sense that the hot spots were just below where they were supposed to be) may be addressed in an OS update. I have yet to bring my M3 up to OS 3 something. It's currently at OS 2 something.

What OS are you running?

Currently running 2.0.4. Version 2.0.5 is the latest and there is a note about a fix for a bug with calibration data after a power on reset. But that doesn't sound like my problem since things get bad (and good again) without a restart.

I wonder if room temperature has anything to do with it. I'll have to monitor it and see if there is a pattern.

Yes, my mistake. OS 2.0.5 is the latest. I need to update, which for some reason I always find it a pain to do since I have an aversion to these things being a bit of a luddite.

Thanks - but the KRONOS was giving me concern over long term reliability and since I got it cheap, I sold it cheap, no loss. The person who bought it is a whiz with all sorts of computers and he and this KRONOS belong together. In fact, he's already customizing sounds for people in another thread.

I have many synths and even though it sounded amazing for what it is, and no the M3 is thin sounding compared. However, I feel more comfortable with it.

For some reason, the screen is working just fine on the M3. I don't know how or why, but maybe all it needed was a good cleaning after being stored for over a year.
