EXs16 Funk and Soul Brass Update - How to Update?

The email advising of the EXs16 Funk and Soul Brass update indicates that 'only the sample data itself has changed,' and that 'You don't need to uninstall the old EXs16; just install the new one, and the KRONOS will replace the older data.'

I have EXs16 installed in user specified locations. Is there a simple way that I can update the sample data without having to go through the process of installing the whole EXs16 again / choosing locations?

Thanks in advance!

By "installed in user specified locations" I assume you mean either Program data loaded into memory, or KSC and PCG files on disk (my guess is the former). Installing the EXs doesn't change the Program data in memory. (As a rule, we never automatically change data in memory, so that we don't over-write any of your custom sounds!) It will write the KSC and PCG files to disk in the Korg Options folder, but as mentioned in the email these files haven't changed, so if you have moved them somewhere else on the disk, the moved files will continue to work as well.

In short: all you need to do is install the EXs data again.

Sorry, yes... I mean that I have moved the programs to different user banks than the default...

Thanks!

Afraid to mess this up

As Dan said: just put the usb-stick with the unzipped library content into your Kronos, ->Disk ->choose USB instead of sdd ->Utility ->install library

You don't have to load psg or ksc content again: everything stays as it is.

I just tried the EXs16 update download and I have obviously done something wrong - here's what happened -

I downloaded the file to my USB stick, went to the K and plugged it in but again it would not load into the Kronos unless I made a "parent folder".
So then it loads, but when I check my Combis and Songs, the samples are not loaded in. I thought I didn't have to re-load the samples. It was definitely the updated file I uploaded, dates were Nov.

So I re-load the KSC files (a mistake?) and apparently now those are still not loaded and I have lost the piano samples to boot. Is there any way I can undo this?

Any ideas out there on what happened or what I can do to fix it.

Thanks!

I re-booted the K and it's working fine!

I still don't know what happened, but I'm happy again. lol

I have bought this expansion too.

However some of the sounds hang when I play them. So when I press a key the note sounds and when I release the key it keeps sounding, even when I switch to another program. (Where's the panic button? :) )

Any ideas?

I've installed the latest update

- another thing:
The first combi (tower of power combi): the whole keyboard listens to chord changes (and not the lower part as you might expect). So when I play the brass sounds with my right hand the karma changes continuously and is therefore unusable.

And there are more strange issues with other combi's that I can't explain. It's either my Kronos or many combi don't feel finished.

Ok another one: the street musician combi: why aren't the drums not in sync with the rhythm of the other sounds?

I hope you guys can shed some light on this, perhaps it's only my system.

Does anybody else experience difficulties with installing this update?

I have now 4 times downloaded the file, unzipped it, and placed it on two different USB-sticks (in the root), and attempted to install on the Kronos, but it gives me immediately an installation error.

I have used this USB stick many times before for Kronos, including installing various EXs installations and OS updates.

Anybody else experiencing the same?

Annoyingly, the files need to be inside a folder called EXS16 in order to install correctly. Don't keep them in the root.

YOU have to create the folder and label it EXs16, then it'll work.

AdDeRoo and Daniel Kinnaird, are you using Windows computers or Macs?

Hi Dan,

I'm using a Mac.
Last night I re-installed from the EXS16 folder and the installation worked initially. I played a few of the programs before they all went silent saying 'samples not loaded.'

Not sure how they could be loaded and then not...

It was too late to trouble shoot so I will get back to it tonight. Any suggestions?
