Which usb-midi interface for Korg M1 and sysex

Discussion relating to all other KORG synth related products that don’t have a dedicated section. For example, OASYS PCI, M1, N Series, 01W series, T series, and more…

Which usb-midi interface for Korg M1 and sysex

Post by j79 »

Hi,
I'm a french guy who was given a Korg M1 last week.

As the battery is dead I'll have to push originals sound via midi.
My question is about the midi-interface I should buy.
- Is any usb-midi interface will do the job ?
- Is there any specific interface I should buy ?

I had considered the M-Audio M-TRACK as I need audio-in for my guitar but I don't have the money for now so if a cheaper one could do the job it would be great too.

Thanks for your advices

Hi, welcome to the forum and congrats for acquiring an M1 8)

I'm not really an expert on usb-midi interfaces, for myself i have a generic chinese made usb-mdi i bought of e-bay cheap, looks like this one:

I had some problems geting it to work with Vista and later with Win7, but found this page: http://www.blindskunk.com/windows7_view ... ivers.html
And got the drivers from E-MU interfaces that is on: http://support.creative.com/Products/Pr ... tails.aspx
just looked for the "E-MU Xmidi 1x1" drivers, installed it and never had a problem using the cable ever since :D

If you don't want to spend much money on an interface for now it may be a good solution.
Look on Ebay, there are a lot of cheap ones:

Thanks a lot for your answer.

SO i've ordered this adapter http://www.amazon.fr/gp/r.html?R=BQY8EV ... 91_TE_item

I keep you informed as soon as I'll receive it and tried to transfer preset to my M1.

I'm a guitarist so I'm a total noob in synth, I think I'll have some fun.

Thanks again

I'm a little late in answering your posting...sorry.

I have an M1 and I use the M-Audio UNO USB-MIDI interface.
It's works great and reasonably priced.

If you need any help with MIDI on the M1, don't hesitate to ask.

That's pretty much the same thing as the M-Audio UNO.

Let me know how it goes.
