ESX dial wheel

Post by limojet »

The data wheel on my ESX (that thing that allows you to navigate the menu) skips values sometimes, goes backwards when I turn clockwise just for one click or two, it's not bothersome really and only happens occasionally, but I wondered if anyone had seen this before. I wouldnt want it to get worse, seeing as they dont make the ESX anymore. Advice/comments appreciated. Thanks.

It's not unusual with those rotary encoders. If they are looked after & used with respect from the start they generally stay good but if they get hammered then they tend to do that. I had a micro-x that did exactly what you described , it was a pre-owned unit & looked like it had been through a hard life.
On the other hand i have an esx1 that i owned from new & have written hundreds of tunes on & yet the dial is still o.k. I always look after my kit !

I bought it new and have always been very careful with it. Which is why it is a bit annoying and puzzling. I can live with it as it is, I just hope it won't turn into a real problem. That data wheel is kind of crucial.

No, that topic is about continuous analog potentiometer problems (yeah, every other knob on the electribes except for the jog wheel).

In the link above about the knob jitter- you will find a reply that takes you to the encoder skipping solution- which is what you need- It worked a treat for me \:D/

thanks, for the replies. i'd somehow neglected to check pgs. 2 & 3... it is helpful and does seem to be the issue.
