OK, so I'll preface this by saying that I'm actually pretty stupid for even letting anyone hear this. I'm sick today (and have been for the last couple days) and my throat is killing me. I spent some time over the weekend doing the instrumentation (mostly staying true to the original, save for a few add-ins and embellishments). Kronos is the piano, bass, and mellotron. Today I had the bright idea to try and track vocals on a sick day (since I had the free time). The only thing I have going for me is that I can say that I'm trying to do a Tom Waits impersonation
Anyway, this is one of my favorite songs of all time and I've been itching to re-record it with a big blasting B3 at the end. I think my drums turned out pretty well, too. DAW was Sonar. The rest of the instrumentation is on the page.

Sick or not nice job.
Did you catch the story of the Eagles on cable? I loved the way Glen Frey discribed how Jackson Brown taught him how to write a song. Glen would listen the brown playing the piano in the apartment downstairs working on a verse for hours on end.
Nice job, was surprised it wasn't The Pretender. Nicely surprised, not that I don't love the pretender. And I love tom waits, he writes some great tunes and his voice matches them so well.

If you didn't tell that your throat aches, I would never have noticed it ^^
I like the piano sound, which patch is it ?

thanks guys. Crap, I just looked and realize soundcloud somehow chopped my file in half. I just re-uploaded it. If you listened to a 1:31 long version of it, I have the 4:15 version of it up right now.
regarding Jackson - he's been one of my favorite songwriters since I was in high school. While I love the Pretender (Sleeps Dark Silent Gaze is my fave off that one), there is just something special, amazing, and raw about his first album. I didn't catch that show about the Eagles, I'll try to look for it - what channel was it on?

Great review of the documentary and the Jackson Browne story is embedded in it.
