Krome tuning problem.. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use my Krome with a wedding band and I'm doing several gigs a week right now. Last night, and Saturday I was using a Buzzy synth patch on a dance music medley and it started going horribly out of tune. I had to physically look at my fingers and my chart to make sure I was playing the right notes. (I was) I went to a different patch, and then back to the synth patch and it sounded right for a few seconds, and then went back out of tune. This happened several times on this tune, luckily the last of the night. I was not hitting the joystick accidently. I did have a Yamaha XO8 midied to it, but the pitch and mod wheels were at neutral.

Has anyone out there had this problem??? I figure I'll re-initialize the synth and reload my patches, but this is very worrisome. Is there anyone out there from Korg who can chime in???

Thanx in advance. JP

I had a similar problem with an M3. It turned out to be a defective joystick. It was sending out random pitch bend as well as other modulations. In combi mode disable the joystick and see if the problem goes away. I think it's the second set of tabs on P5.

It could. You would have to look around and disable anything that is assigned to the joystick to verify if that is causing the problem. Another thing to try is use a tool like midi-ox and monitor the events. If you see random pitch bends then it could be the joystick.

I'm pretty hard on the joystick so it didn't really surprise me that I wore it out. If you don't use the joystick much then I would expect it to last forever but anything is possible.

Well I called Korg and they said (and I paraphrase) " There are several things in the synth that could fail and make it do what yours did". He wants me to bring it to my local Korg service center. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course I used it last night and it worked flawlessly.

I'm not sure what to do.......... Maybe put it in the shop and dust off my X50??? JP
