Having problems getting my sustain pedal to affect sounds from my T3 to Reason 7. I'm pretty sure that I've missed something in the midi setup. Can someone lend a hand, here? Thx

There are two sides and 4 steps to the recording process -- you play from a controller, it's recorded by the sequencer, played back by the sequencer, and played by the synth.

Check (if it is there) the MIDI filter section of the T3 under Global Menu and make sure it is actively sending all signals via midi - and that the Reason software is not filtering out select incoming Continuous Control (CC) messages (like sustain) from the controller (T3).

If Reason's filter/sequencer is set up to receive/record only note on/note off/volume (velocity) you'll have to edit the sequences to add sustain messages or reset the filter to allow recording such. Then you need to equally make sure that the synth isn't filtering out sustain messages when they're received and played via MIDI. [I do't know for sure but there should be no polarity issue - I don't think that's part of the CC message].

Bill,

Pretty sure you've nailed that answer, I don't use my T2 due to its midi issues but the Roland RS9 (as well the Alesis and Moog LP2 I might add) controls Reason inc the pedal - Reason is pretty forgiving as far as software goes so as you've already said, checking the T3 would be the way to go.
