Expression Pedal Woes

I have a Boss FV-500 H (mono) and a Boss FV 500 L(stereo) and can get neither of them to work as expression/volume pedals. Am using a stereo cable put into the assignable pedal port and have gone into Global, P2, then Foot Pedal Assign - tried Master Volume, Volume(cc#07), and Expression(cc#12). And nothing works. Any suggestions? Thanks

Did you hook it up to the expression input on the pedal as well?

That said, I think Yamaha/Korg and Roland/Boss don't use the same kind of signal, something about the voltages. So you could be out of luck altogether, do you have another synth somewhere that you could try it with?

Yep. Hooked it up to the exp port on the pedal (as opposed to the input and output of volume for guitar lines). The pedal doesn't work with my Roland D50 either. Damn. A $16 cord is less than $200 XVP-10.

Just my two cents worth. I bought that big Yamaha Expression pedal when I got my Extreme in 2006. It's a stereo plug on it. I just plugged it in to where it says Pedal on the back of the Extreme; assigned it in Global and it works like a damn! I can't remember exactly what I paid for it but it seems to me it wasn't that cheap. It's very well built though.

Thanks for the help. I'm still futsing with it but literally I today talked to my local store tech who said he believes there is some compatibility with Yamaha pedals. I've tried Roland, Boss and an Apex type and nothing. New stereo cable and all plugged into the right holes. Correct global settings. Think I'm going to drag it down to the local shop and try it out with the Yamaha pedal and if it works, hunt down a korg pedal.
