NanoPad2

Post by michelkeijzers »

Dear all,

I have bought a NanoPad2 (not received it yet). However I was now wondering if it could be 'taped/sticked/placed/whatever' on a Kronos 61 in a more or less elegant way.

I want to use it for special effects (note on messages). However, I wondered how flexible it is with sending CC messages.

What are your 'use cases' of the NanoPad2 on the Kronos?

Kind regards,

Michel

Hi Michel

I use the Nanopad2 basically to trigger the chord pads, which the Nanopad2 recognises automatically. That's why I have put it at the top-left side on top of a Kronos88, so I have the right hand free for soloing.

I use the lower pads for triggering drumsounds

Have not done further experimenting yet. You can already download the software and see what you can configure more

Thanks for replying, Ad.

Guess the Kronos88 has more than enough space to accomodate the NanoPad. However, I also could place it on the lower keyboard (Extreme), don't use that one except for the keys and joystick.

Hi Michel,

I don't have a Nanopad, but I have a NanoKontrol which is identical in size, and I am yet to find somewhere to place it on a K61. I normally place it on my upper-tier keyboard instead.

I believe it should be pretty configurable in terms of CC messages. I just wish the nanoKontrol and nanoPad could send Sysex!

Yes I doubt also for a NanoKontrol (was only E 48), however, I have already 2 pedals on my Behringer. I didn't check all the CC message capabilities yet.

How did you setup the lower pads?

I did make a setup with the Korg Kontrol Editor Software - assigning the lower pads to some core drumkit-trigger-keys and send it to the Nanopad2. Upon attaching to the Kronos, Kronos automatically assigns the upper pads to the Kronos chords functionality, and it seems it leaves the lower pads unchanged.
But haven't fully explored that yet if that is the case

Hi Michel,
There is just no room on the KRONOS 61. I use a cheap, but sturdy, table from Walmart that holds both the 61 and a few peripherals such as the NanoPad2. As far as I can tell, there's enough room on the top surface of the 88 and possibly the 73; but the 61....forget it.

Ok thanks for the confirmation.

Probably I will (kind of) tape it to the Extreme or otherwise place it over the controls (since I use it only as keyboard). I don't like to have an additional stand accessory.

There is some room on the left hand side above the knobs, but it isn't very sturdy and you can't read above the knobs.

My Kronos is at an angle which probably helps to keep it in place, but there is room for a strip of velcro.[/img]

Thanks for the picture!

It could be possible, I don't like that the volume knob is less convienant accessible this way (I tend to use it regularly for volume differences during a gig).

For some reason it doesn't seam to be in the way of turning the knobs. I definitely use the knobs when I play as well. All I can suggest is to experiment a bit and see what works best for you.

Ok I will ... I get it this weekend so I will definitely experiment with it.
Thanks!

mine is attached w/ velcro to my 88 here:

I got a right-angle mini USB cable and with a cable tie on back, it makes the cable completely out of the way.

I put it on the same spot as jeebustrain, except I did not use velcro -- I used one of those rubber sticky-as-hell pads they sell to place your phone on car dashboards.
