Studio Monitors

I hope I have this in the right section of the Forum. If not please let me know.

I'm thinking of getting a pair of Studio Monitors (like the Rokit KRK's) for studio use only (no gigging). I'm only interested in the DP sound. I'm not doing any recording but a lot people seem to be using them in their studios. I'm wondering if anyone is using them and could maybe give me some advice. For example for DP's does the 6 inch woofer or the 8 inch woofer sound best. I certainly don't want to start a long thread on the best or the worst monitors as I'm aware it's all subjective, but before I go out and try some I thought there might be some ideas on the Forum.

Thanks

OG

If it's for DP enjoyment and not professional mixes and you're on a budget I'd say rather get the 6" with a sub than the 8" with no sub.

Just trying to think along with Old Guy, who seems like a normal person and will then have to consider budget as a factor.

Thanks for the input. That gives me some ideas to work with. I'm going to go out and see if I can try some different ones at the local music shop.

Bring a few cds that you know inside out. Then listen to the same songs on different speakers. Good luck!

I know when I bought my first "serious" monitors (DynAudio BM5A) that I had thought mixing would get easier, but in many ways, it got a lot harder!
