M3 VST plugin, must I have firewire?

Hi all.

Stand alone M3 editor works fine on my PC.

Midi works fine in Cubase.

Have the M3 VST plugin installed and get it displayed properly from within cubase. But when I start it, it says it cant find my M3.

Before I spend ages trying to work out where the problem lies, reading the editor manual, it seems to imply I must have Firewire to use the VST part?

Is that correct, if so, that's why I cant get it working as I only have the USB Midi, hence wont bother to solve a problem thats insolvable :)

Thanks

Joe

No you don't need firewire, you just need the latest M3 midi driver installed (d/l from the Korg website). If you already have this it sounds like its a cubase configuration problem. Did you see this thread http://www.karma-lab.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13679

With USB connection from your M3, you can send/receive MIDI to your computer. You will only need the EXB-FW if you want to additionally get digital I/O channels of audio as well as MIDI from the M3 to your computer. Also, your computer must have a Firewire port in order to use the EXB-FW.

That helped me pinpoint one problem, I had two drivers installed for the m3, one corrupted, that's now fixed.

Problems still there, but its something I've done wrong within Cubase, will study the manuals.

thanks
